Vietnam's tourism industry welcomed 14 million visitors during the Lunar New Year holiday, reflecting a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) highlighted significant boosts in international arrivals across key destinations between February 14 and 22. The surge in visitors signals a strong recovery and growth trend for the country’s tourism sector.

Major cities experienced notable increments in tourist numbers. Da Nang saw a 32% rise with 510,000 international arrivals. Hue experienced the most considerable growth at 207%, while Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City reported increases of 55% and 51.7%, respectively. Additionally, provinces like Khanh Hoa and An Giang noted international visitor increases between 23% and 28%.

Domestic tourism also gained momentum, with local travel bookings rising by 15-20%. Accommodation occupancy rates were robust, with some destinations like Lo Lo Chai reaching full capacity. The positive figures are attributed to favorable visa policies, successful promotional efforts, and strategic diversification of tourism offerings.

Experts note the resurgence in both domestic and international markets, with total revenues in some provinces increasing by over 30%. The shift towards online booking and the demand for personalized, culturally immersive experiences were evident. This preference aligns with tourists' desire for longer stays, further diversifying the tourism experience.

No major incidents marred the holiday, underscoring the success of local efforts in maintaining safety and hospitality standards. The optimistic outlook marks a promising start to the Year of the Horse, with authorities aiming for 25 million foreign visitors and 150 million domestic travelers by 2026, reported VN Express.
