Vietnam's job market in 2026 is witnessing a notable shift with increased demand for sales professionals and AI talent. After a period of restructuring, companies are now concentrating on boosting revenues and embracing digital transformation, investing heavily in artificial intelligence. Surveys released before Tet indicate a resurgence in recruitment demand across various sectors, highlighting distinct patterns in hiring preferences.

Navigos reports that sales roles make up 46% of the recruitment demand this year, followed by IT-software at 13%. Similarly, TopCV identifies business-sales at 48%, IT-software at 9%, communications-advertising at 8%, and customer service at 4%. Companies are predominantly seeking sales professionals with one to five years of experience, essential for immediate revenue generation. About 31% of employers express interest in hiring recent graduates, while around 20% are looking for team leaders and mid-level managers, balancing short-term performance with long-term talent development.

In the IT sector, web developers (45%), back-end developers (37%), and AI engineers (30%) are highly sought after. The focus is on candidates with expertise in AI, semiconductor technology, and microchip-related fields. However, over 50% of companies face challenges in finding skilled professionals, with concerns about talent attrition to major tech firms and a limited supply of qualified applicants, creating a competitive high-skill market.

Demand is also rising in healthcare, with psychological counselors, nurses, and caregivers expected to see significant demand increases. Marketing and communications roles continue to be relevant, yet there's a shift towards professionals proficient in data analysis and revenue impact measurement. Conversely, hiring in administration and HR remains low, with many firms optimizing costs by requiring these teams to multitask.

Workers are aware of these structural changes, with 41% recognizing increased segmentation in new sectors such as renewable energy and high-tech manufacturing. Meanwhile, 27% believe the market is stable but more competitive, with higher expectations for skills. Younger professionals are optimistic about the opportunities in AI and fintech, although older workers in traditional fields share concerns about shrinking job prospects, reported VN Express.

Key Takeaways

  • Sales and IT roles dominate Vietnam's recruitment market in 2026.

  • Companies face a challenge in finding skilled AI and tech professionals.
