I'll go further. I have zero doubt that many people obsessively supporting demonization of Israel and constantly questioning its right to exist, would not be bothered in the slightest if this boy's rock killed a target. They would consider him a hero.

JIngthing, I well respect 99% of what you write. But not on this event, It seems that the Israeli soldiers were very close to the 14 yr old boy and I submit that they were close enough to see / realize it was a rock.

Could they not use a stick to prod the rock to see if it was in fact an explosive device. Could they not have fired on the rock with specific aim to see if it exploded or just crumbled into sand etc?

A rock as a deadly weapon sounds like a whole bunch of apologism to me. Look at the way IDF are kitted out.
