Domestic water filters

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a water filter for either the whole house or just a single bathroom ? The situation is that my bathroom accumulates a brown coloured scale which I have been told is caused by the iron , manganese and maybe sulfur content from the deep well water. A basic economy filter system is preferred if possible .

I knew the feeling.

First you must get your water analysed so you know what filters you need.

For me I have a 60 m aquifer hole with the submersible pump at 30m.

A pump control box controlled by a float switch in my 30000L tank starts and stops the submersible when tank is full or need filling.

Before the tank is a Big Blue sediment filter and on the tank output are 2 large magnesium and charcoal automatic backwash filters and a chlorine dosing tank and pump for house and yard.

Under the sink is a 5 or 6 stage reverse osmosis set of filters for the drinking water tap.

Thanks Carlyai . I was hoping to not spend a lot by using an inline filter . Your set up looks good but must have cost you a fair price . Where can I get my well water analysed .

No it wasn't that expensive. 3000L SS tank had for ages and can't remember the price, I think the 2 backwashable filters plus chlorine pump were around B6000 each and Mitsabishi 350 W pump about B6000.

Testing done at universities. Just go to a uni and ask for water testing. Bit expensive and we took 6 large coke bottles of water. You need to test so you know what filters to get.
