A 77-year-old Italian tourist, identified as Moretti, experienced a sudden cardiac arrest while checking in at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Airport medical staff immediately initiated chest compressions and quickly transferred him to Tam Anh Hospital. Within minutes, hospital staff stabilized Moretti's condition, restoring his heartbeat and blood pressure.

The tourist's critical condition included symptoms like generalized cyanosis and undetectable carotid or femoral pulses. His blood oxygen saturation was found to be dangerously low at 45%. Doctors discovered that Moretti suffered from ventricular tachycardia, a perilous heart rhythm reaching nearly 190 beats per minute, potentially leading to further cardiac arrests.

In response, the medical team performed emergency cardioversion, administered antiarrhythmic medication, intubated him, and attached him to a ventilator. Intensive resuscitation efforts allowed his heart rhythm to stabilize, his blood pressure to normalize, and the cyanosis to gradually fade. Professor Dr. Vo Thanh Nhan of the Interventional Cardiology Center diagnosed him with acute myocardial infarction alongside severe hemodynamic instability.

Moretti's medical history revealed coronary artery disease and heart failure, with prior coronary artery bypass surgery and stent placements. This background contributed to the severity of his condition during the cardiac event.

Looking forward, Moretti will require close monitoring and further treatment to ensure recovery. Medical experts stress the importance of rapid response and advanced medical facilities in handling such critical emergencies effectively, reported VN Express.
