A bun rieu (crab noodle soup) eatery in Hanoi has reopened at 47 Hang Luoc Street after being shut down due to hygiene complaints from a Chinese tourist. The restaurant, previously criticized for unsanitary conditions, has made significant changes including reorganizing its dining area, upgrading the kitchen, and installing air conditioning to improve customer experience. Since its reopening on March 19, it has seen a high number of bookings.

The eatery was initially closed after a tourist, identified only as Wang, posted about damp and unsanitary conditions on Xiaohongshu, a Chinese social media platform, on March 3. He shared photos that depicted a trash-filled serving area and wet floor, sparking concern among Chinese netizens. Owner Duc Thang explained that the complaints were partly due to the local humid climate, which can affect many restaurants.

The reaction to the post was swift, with numerous comments and criticisms from those who had not visited the establishment. Despite the setback, the upgraded venue has regained its popularity, offering bowls of crab noodle soup priced between VND25,000-80,000 (US$0.95-3.04). Local patrons and tourists have been flocking to experience the improved dining environment.

Looking ahead, Duc Thang is optimistic about maintaining the eatery's reputation by continuing to provide quality food and service. The restaurant aims to manage its high demand while ensuring cleanliness and customer satisfaction to prevent similar incidents, reported VN Express.
