I have always wondered this ! That supermarket up near the bus station is double the prices of Aldi in Australia

As I’ve posted previously on this forum, I feel I must defend the little Foodmart at the Jomtien bus station. For such a small place, it has a remarkably wide range of foods, including imported stuff

Are you sure there ever was a foodland? I know there was a large sign, but I don't think there was a shop

They probably realise all those elderly farang will just loiter in the AC like they do at Big C Extra

Jomtien could use a Boots or Watsons.

You know that Pascal had a restaurant in Jomtien, don't you? That's where his buffet breakfast/brunches began.

You also understand that Gooseberry is in Phra Tamnak soi 6, equally close to Jomtien. Pop down the promenade and you are there. How do you get there from Central Pattaya?

Apart from that, what makes it fine dining and the others not?

What is "fine dinning"? Is it different from fine dining? 😊

My horizons are okay. I've traversed a good part of the world and can knock up a few dishes for myself.

Are you suggesting that every village should have overly expensive restaurants before they qualify as somewhere desirable to live? Even a brain dead person could put together a better argument than your rather pathetic attempt.

If you've lived in Thailand for merely twenty years, I win. 😊

Do try and stay on topic, it's focused on the main area of Jomtien, Phratamnak is not Jomtien it's a completely different locale. Also if you don't know what makes a fine "dining" experience and how the restaurants you mentioned don't come close then you reality shouldn't be opining here.
And no I am not suggesting anything I merely stated a fact that along with no decent supermarkets in Jomtien there is no high-end restaurants, to which you seemed to get all flustered about and started naming tourist traps serving mediocre overpriced food as, in your perception, quality restaurants.
It's obvious you are quite a sensitive person and don't take well to factual criticism that's reflective of the place you chose to live.
Also trying to score points by highlighting a small spelling error and the fact that you've lived in Thailand for more than a mere 20 years really does emphasise the menial mentality you possess.
However do carry-on enjoying yourself in Jomtien, each to their own as they say.

Indian by Nature is definitely fine dining which only racists that think fine dining needs to be European food would deny.

That was yesterday today is today!

Re

There is plenty of land plenty!

Theppasit, for years where the Go Cart now is located was gone they came bacK.

That is is motmre than enough but if there was ever a required environmental review never.

There is also 2nd road massive amounts of land all the way to Na Jomtien!

Build it they will come!🤣

The new Copacabana looks so huge - Arom opening in August - and other new big ones nearby one would expect there would be something better.

The topic is supermarkets in Chom Tien, you veritable genius 😊

But I don't mind going off-topic in order to discuss restaurants.

If you like, Phra Tamnak, just like Naklua and Na Jomtien are completely different locales. Each has their own character. What is fine dining to you, may not be the same thing to someone else. So I've asked you to define what fine dining is to you?

Have you eaten at any of the restaurants that I mentioned? Which ones and when?

Please understand that if someone is representing themselves as knowing of the finer things in life, they should at least be able to spell fine dining correctly.

Oh...I should let you know, that I do not live in Jomtien. I guess that makes you a fool for assuming, doesn't it?

They also just opened the big Foodland, McDonalds, coffee club, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell and a few other little shops on Pratumnak hill. Quite busy already, but sht for parking.

fine dining correctly.

yeah, bragging about spending an inordinate amount of time in expensive restaurants.

if every meal is more expensive than you would spend back home, doesn't make much financial sense to eat like that all the time.

I think that it's patently clear that the 'man' is really just a horse's posterior pretending to be human.

I bought my condo 10 years ago in Jom Tien or Chom Tian, however you want to spell it, after visiting a friend who owned one in a newer condo bldg, I spent a lot of time in Pattaya previously, ever since stationed here in 72-75, even managed a bar there fir awhile - I look at Chom Tian as the sleepy village Na Klua used to be, it will soon catch up to Na Klua. You could say Jom Tien is where the old hookers from Pattaya move too. I like the quiet but it's getting noisier every day, might be time to sell and move elsewhere. BTW when I first came here, there was one 7/11, with another being built across the road, there are about ten 7/11’s, CJ’s, Big C Mini’s, Lotus Mini, and a Tops Daily………and we still can’t buy good bacon, its all paper thin (my only complaint) Peace

Why not ?

If your retired at 67 with a million dollars in retirement fund . .bloody spend it and have a good time , just because you can't doesn't mean the rest of us can't

Tops not Foodland

Lotus and Big C are only 4km away from Jomtien beach at South Pattaya.

Those shops are useless if you can't park close by.

Big Foodland sign still on Thepprasit

I've passed that sign a few times, but I don't know the history. Was there a Foodland there once upon a time, or was it planned by never actually happened?

Never had a Foodland on that site.

I heard over the years that Foodland owns the land and plans to build there one day.

Answered already on page 1 of the thread..just look backwards

With every major supermarket offering online service with delivery/free delivery, as well as grab, lineman etc. for delivery, the importance of yet another actual supermarket building becomes less important to investors/stakeholders, I guess.

For Jomtien the delivery can be very quick from Makro, Big C, Tesco etc. on Sukhumvit.
