No alcohol or ice cream for 50 years is an extreme diet.

Alcohol, especially wine, is a healthy addition. An occasional beer is also okay. Ice Cream is always low fat and sugar free, or made myself. Not extreme . Just healthy choices. Extreme to me is eating junk food that your body rejects or it produces inflammation, which is a precursor to many diseases, especially in the most important body system, the gut microbiome.

I’m more curious where you live that’s so flawless. A utopia, is it? No drunks, no dodgy headlines, no locals behaving badly… just everyone sipping herbal tea and filing their taxes early?

Why do you have such a compulsion to post dispiriting content on this forum. That’s the question you should be asking.

You really dont know much about people who stay fit. My wife and I exercise daily and enjoy hiking. Last year at this time we were home for a daughters wedding and took the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon and Sedona Az. We took a shorter Bright Angel trail walk was hard but fulfilling. 4. 5 miles down 2500 feet. Got to Havasupai Gardens an oasis halfway down to the Colorado river. Coming back was hard, but just stop and sip water. We also did the whole of the Rim Walk another day as well.

Please stop pontificating and put up some photos of your travels, never have seen any with all the talk.

In Scotland on country walks, like the west highland way i used to frequently see Skandis with their walking sticks same as your photo, you couldn't hear yourself think with the noise of those things, kinda ruined the ambience

Alcohol is toxic to every human cell. Pizza and ice cream are semi junk or junk foods. Dark chocolate is healthy but milk chocolate is junk food.

I cheated 5-6 times just this week.

3 beers, but only drank 1/3 (carbs !!!)

Millefeuille , cookies,

Tops salami and cheese sandwich (god that baguette is perfect ... just as good as in France. I don't know if they hired a French baker or what).

Gotta get back on track.

Keep your eyes on the prize.

You can get crappy pizza anywhere, which is why it's best, while you're traveling, to sample a bunch of places, as quality anywhere goes from crapola to excellent.I lived in the NYC area 62 years, and yes, I've had blase pizza, but I've also had many that were top of the line.

Fair point. Bit harsh to say my one slice is representative of the whole of New York. I do kind of prefer the Australian style of pizza that has more toppings but it's likely what you are used to.

The people in the Blue Zone, who live longer on average than any others on earth, drink wine, especially red, many days a week. Pizza, like was mentioned in the links if someone bothered to read them, and there are many more, is a healthy food if prepared correctly. Dismiss what another might have said, because an opinion without knowledge doesn't add to anything.

Ice cream can also be made with healthy ingredients, as can be seen for decades also. Junk foods are those with a lot of sugar, especially refined or corn syrup, which add empty calories and little nutrition. Pizza and ice cream add healthy choices to a diet, especially when again, prepared healthily.

My favorite pizzas are Italian sliced thin sausage, anchovies, onion or mushrooms, preferably fresh. When I last visited New Jersey and New York, I went to a different pizza place every day for just a slice. Out of around 15 places, 10 were very good 3 good and 7 were top notch. Two were okay but kinda plain.

Not a problem, I've handled his type of disorder in people for decades. It's fun pointing them out to others so they don't get suckered in too long. I actually wasted too much time with him, as others have plainly seen what a character he is by now.

Gourmet pizzas are still mostly bread and gourmet ice cream is still a low nutrient dense food. Low sugar yogurt, cottage cheese, riccota are health foods.

People in Japan and Hong Kong live the longest. They don't drink that much red wine. They consume vast amounts of salt and plenty of meat.

One type of food I really liked but rarely ate was the puff pastries, especially from those killer bakeries in the NYC area,. I will eat a Cannoli when I can find a good one, and miss them. They are a little high in calories but mostly cheese. What I also miss are Banh Mi's, and had a few while visiting Vietnam in March last year with my girlfriend. They have good ones in Texas so I'll be visiting them when we go back. Nothing like a good baguette.

People in the Blue Zones live the longest. Okinawa is one. Hong Kong isn't. Red win is part of their diets, as it is mine and millions of Mediterraneans, another Blue Zone area. A pizza is a group of ingredients, all of which can be healthy. Bread isn't a problem unless you have a gluten intolerance. Some places have gluten free dough. Tomatoes, cheese, and some toppings are all nutrient filled.

Puff pastries are junk food. You just said you didnt cheat for 50 years except chocolate then later added beer, wine and ice cream.

Might as well add marshmellows next.

Yes, I had puff pastries when I was a teenager. I always drank wine, occasional beer and healthy ice creams, so it's not cheating. Good information to those inclined to read..................https://www.bluezones.com/recipes/food-guidelines/

Buffett drinks 5 cokes a day. He is 95. You might as well "cheat".

FYI ... you may or may not be interested.

There may be some X factors that appear to affect health and longevity that baffle scientists.

The Roseto effect refers to the initial finding that the Italian-American community of Roseto, Pennsylvania, in the mid-20th century, had a significantly lower rate of heart disease and heart attacks compared to neighboring towns and the rest of the United States. This phenomenon was attributed to the strong social bonds, close-knit community, and cohesive family structures within Roseto.

True, some can cheat and do most everything wrong it seems and live to 100, but the majority will pay for eating junk too long and not moving consistently, along with smoking or alcohol abuse.

Seriously @fredwiggy Try some self awareness for once. 😊 Your whole posting style shows signs of a mental disorder. Previously, hundreds of posts in quick succession. An obsession with having proved everyone wrong in every discussion. Knowing more than everyone else about any given subject, even though you did poorly at school and haven't travelled anywhere outside the USA, apart from Thailand.

When have you ever admitted that you didn't know something?

Internet troll

An Internet troll is an individual who deliberately provokes or upsets others within online communities, particularly on social media platforms. This behavior, known as trolling, typically involves posting inflammatory or malicious comments to elicit strong emotional reactions from users. The term "troll" is believed to have originated from the act of fishing, where bait is used to catch fish, paralleling how trolls seek to attract attention and reactions. Trolling can have severe consequences for victims, leading to emotional distress, depression, and in some tragic cases, suicidal thoughts.

Psychological factors contribute to the phenomenon of trolling, including the disinhibition effect, which allows individuals to act boldly online due to perceived anonymity. Trolls often exhibit low empathy levels and may derive pleasure from causing pain to others. The rise of trolling has been amplified by technological developments and the increasing use of social media, with notable instances of state-sponsored trolling also coming to light. Understanding the motivations behind trolling—ranging from boredom to a desire for attention—can offer insights into combating this pervasive issue within online interactions.

Usually deflects, gaslights and assumes things to bait. Exaggerates also, thinking what you say is aimed at anyone besides them, as they have a very weak sense of self, and must argue to feed that ego. Enlisting others in their defense and argument, who are called flying monkeys.

Gross assumptions about others with no evidence are a huge part of their MO, which help to deflect away from their own internal anger and low self esteem.Almost to a man it comes from their parents lack of ability to teach respect for life, abuse, neglect or outright spoiling.

A new study on mice found movement helps the brain cleanse itself. So doing anything is better than sitting.

Throwing out disorder when you behave like you do, shows a lack of empathy and self awareness. Especially so when it runs in your family. You've dealt with it for decades simply through having to manage yourself.

Again, you can't generalize, and comes down to homemade, gourmet shop/quality ingredients, or mass produced/max profit crap.

Use to make my own Ice Cream, heavy cream, edit/eggs, 100% cacao, vanilla, and wee bit of sugar. Consider a scoop or 2 once per week, yea, that moderation thing.

Eating healthy is really too easy, and once off the junk food addiction, you appreciate healthy foods more. Does take will power, and easy if you don't shop hungry, and don't buy what you know is unhealthy.

For us, that is really easy, as we don't buy much that has an ingredient label. Cuts down at packaging trash also 🙄

Added plus of eating whole foods, and lots of homemade, it's time consuming, interesting, almost fun, when good results, and fills in time, as in retirement, most have too much. Boredom munching is a major reason for some of the pear shaped folks waddling around.

I think of different things to make from scratch almost monthly. Posted somewhere, I made currant preserves the other day, too easy, too tasty, less expensive. Another item I'll never buy.

Waiting to make Mayo, as something I never did, as can't use up half a jar of homemade before it turns. BUT ... just learned if you add kefir whey to it, it will last months in frig. Science is a beautiful thing.

I've been making Banana Ice Cream lately, as my daughter and I both love bananas. I use ripe bananas, 2 eggs, honey, yogurt, peanut butter and soy or almond milk. Blended then frozen. It can be eaten , after testing, when it's stiff, or frozen completely. Good thing to eat watching old movies. true that making your own food contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Instead of going to the 7-11 for some quick processed junk, you know what's going into your dishes, and it's enjoyable eating something you've created.

Fruit version and sorbets much healthier, especial if watching calorie (sat. fat) count.

Wife makes those 'cup size' cakes in microwave, when jonesing. Knowing if she makes a whole cake, it will be gone fast, every time we walk by it.

Why I don't make Cheesecake too often. Use minimal sugar, but it's a sat. fat bomb. 2 things I try hardest to cut back on.
