‘No shame’. A perfect way to round off a rant calling Jews ‘loony’ for having the temerity to exercise their right to peacefully protest. ‘Kill Israel’, not just hyperbole but illogical and baseless

‘Kill Israel’, not just hyperbole but illogical and baseless nonsense.

You missed the bits about ‘stop the killing’, ‘Free Palestine’, ‘Stop the Genocide’, nowhere calling for any killing.

Neturei Karta is a fringe Jewish group with a few thousand highly visible members worldwide. It opposes the State of Israel on religious grounds, i.e., a belief that Jews can only be restored to the Holy Land by the coming of the Messiah. They follow a very strict interpretation of traditional Jewish law in daily life.

Neturei Karta's members believe political Zionism and the State of Israel are a sacrilegious affront to God. They believe they have a biblical imperative to work for the destruction of Israel. They are convinced the best way to do this is to align themselves with or support other anti-Israel groups, including Islamists and neo-Nazis.

The group was founded in 1938 and has been on the outer edge of Judaism since then, shunned by other Jews, including anti-Zionist Jews. "The more mainstream ultra-Orthodox community" has been led "to join the broader Jewish community, to disavow and repudiate Neturei Karta. Indeed, Neturei Karta’s views are not in any way representative of the vast majority of the Jewish community. "

It’s not quite calling them Neo-Nazis but it’s a close enough slur to earn a Godwin Gong.

Meanwhile here they protest the right of Palestinians to a state, the end of the Israeli genocide and an end to the killing. Scurrilous stuff.

Ev, as usual, you caused me to investigate Neturei Karta more deeply. Here's what I found out.

Neturei Karta's original mission was to oppose efforts in the Old Yishuv to establish a Jewish armed force during the 1936–1939 Arab revolt. The group believed that such a force would be destructive and that Torah scholars are the true guards of the Jewish people.

Neturei Karta leader Moshe Hirsch befriended PLO leader Yasir Arafat, who many Israelis viewed as their major enemy. The group protested together with the PLO at the UN in 1970. Hirsch attended Arafat's funeral in Ramallah.

If by associating with Neo-Nazis, you are referring to six members of the group who attended the International Conference to Review the Global Vision of the Holocaust in Tehran in 2006, sure, Neo-Nazis were in attendance and Holocaust deniers made speeches.

“However, six members of the anti-Zionist Jewish organisation Neturei Karta, including Aharon Cohen, who said he had come to the conference to express the Orthodox Jewish viewpoint. Cohen also said that while the Holocaust indisputably happened, ‘in no way can it be used as a justification for perpetrating unjust acts against the Palestinians.’.

Iran's sole Jewish member of parliament Maurice Motamed said: "Holding this conference after having a competition of cartoons about the Holocaust has put a lot of pressure on Jews all over the world;"and that "The conference has upset Iran's 25,000-strong Jewish community."

One student activist said the protest against Ahmadinejad was against the "shameful" Holocaust conference, and added that Ahmadinejad had "brought to our country Nazis and racists from around the world."

Neturei Karta activists have appeared almost every day at US cease-fire rallies, where hundreds of members live. They have compared Zionists to Nazis and denied the Judaism of Zionists, with statements like: "Zionists are not Jews, only racists" and "Zionism does not represent the Jewish people."

In September 2024, Neturei Karta rabbis were present at an interfaith meeting in New York with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian during General Assembly of the United Nations.

In 2026, Neturei Karta observed the Nakba with Palestinians.

Here's what I get about Neturei Karta:

- Against a Jewish armed force.

- Interfaith meetings with PLO and Iran’s President.

- Not Holocaust denial but the fact that the Holocaust is no justification for perpetrating unjust acts against the Palestinians.

- Zionists are racists.

- Observing the Nakba with Palestinians.

- How I’ll get to the signs:

- “Every abortion is an unborn soldier.”

- Jews refusing to serve in the IDF. De facto recognition of conscientious objectors.

- End the occupation.

- Palestinian sovereignty.

- Opposing the sale of West Bank land in a New York synagogue.

- Support for both Palestinians and Lebanese Muslims against IDF indiscriminate murder.

Neturei Karta may well be fringe by numbers but tell me which of these anyone can disagree with.

What are on earth is “Jew washing”? enforced babtism?

I doubt it’s a term you would tolerate anyone else using.

Regardless, these Jews you refer to as ‘very extremist’ have a right to peacefully protests their peaceful views and opposition to the Israeli genocide, and the rights of Palestinians to their land and statehood.

They are not the only Jews who protest these matters, in that respect they are not a ‘fringe’ and definitely not extremist.

They also have a right to peacefully express their views that there faith does not support the Israeli State or Zionism, which I understand is a bit of a difficulty for those claiming religious justifications for the modern Israeli state.

Thank you for expanding my vocabulary, but I don’t think ‘Jew washing’ is a term I’ll use much of outside of these efforts to dismiss the views of Jews who protest the genocide and the right of Palestinians to their land and statehood.

"Jew-washing" refers to the practice of using Jewish individuals to lend legitimacy to anti-Israel claims, often to avoid accusations of anti-Semitism. This term has emerged in discussions about political activism and criticism

www.gnasherjew.com/neturei-karta-a-deep-dive-into-controversy/

Many people will have seen photos on social media of men in traditional Jewish dress carrying banners and placards condemning the existence of the State of Israel. These men are members of the Neturei Karta and every anti-Zionist’s to go example of anti-Zionist Jews. But few people know much about this fringe sect or how little they reflect the sentiments of the wider Jewish community.

Neturei Karta, meaning “Guardians of the City,” an extreme Orthodox Jewish sect, is perhaps most notorious for its staunch opposition to Zionism and the State of Israel. Their views and actions have placed them in a controversial position both within and outside the Jewish community. However, their ideological and behavioural peculiarities extend beyond mere anti-Zionism, touching upon issues of religious observance, social values, and political affiliations that have sparked widespread criticism.

A rare interview with a member of the Neturei Karta cult.

Not the first guy who is very eccentric but has more typical views, but the second guy.

This cult is totally INSANE. They do not represent the Jewish people at all.

They represent only their INSANE CULT.

Of course this was straw man because I never said that cult says or does what they do against their free will.

The Jew washing is when non-Jewish extremist "anti-Zionists" such as yourself use those non-representative Jews to further a hate filled propaganda objective.

Similar to how the Iranian regime used them.

They went freely. They got used and represented as representing Jews in general which they certainly do not (and as a cynical shield against accusations of racist Jew hatred).
