Every large city is much the same. Worldwide, cities have different cultures. My bucket list includes some Europe countries, which have our history and their own cultures, food where it's invented, architecture, mountains I can climb, lakes, rivers and streams I can fish, places I can hunt, like Africa, and Cairns for a Marlin.

And comes across as honest and friendly. That's what draws people in. Millions use their hands to express themselves. Not just Italians.

All just streets, shops and Cairns has snakes! Don't go!

There aren't any snakes on the Great Barrier Reef. Besides water snakes that stay in the water.

You are about 2 years late with that info. Unlike in Thailand there has been zero new inventory because builders here hate losing money. So prices will go up again. In any case I can still rent out my condo tomorrow if I wanted to or when I move again. In Thailand it would sit empty.

Spark up another bowl of hopium and chase the Canadian condo dragon.

I like Thailand and enjoy living here, but that is primarily for the people, not anything particularly interesting about any city or area.

Perfect opening sentence............I would add, 'being able to easily live a minimalistic lifestyle with little or no government intervention'................

You last words say it all. WHY did you post this?

There used to be a place where you could say your location, although many were silly, ficticious places like "Over t'Rainbow, weigh a pie!

I prefer not to waste my time replying, to fake people. There's another fake poster, actually too many, all BS, posted photos of homemade food, with photos pinched from sites.

Too funny, and sad, called out for 2X in just the past weeks. Living a fake online life, WTF.

Prefer having conversations with real people, not fake experts of all things. Why I ignore 99% of AN posters.

All the cultures in cities are now 3rd world Islam.

Enjoy!

Yep, too easy living here. Nobody, not even govt up you ass for every little thing.

USA, over regulated, overly PC and taxes, good GOD man, taxes take 40-50% of income, with it's redundancy. Taxed when you earn it, invest, buy or sell something. Even taxed when you die, and try to give your sh!t away .... WTF

Sorry Khun LA, but I am not a fake person, I even posted photos of myself recently. I am NOT an expert of all things, only English language, classical and music in general, guitar, piano and bass playing, cooking although I do not take photos of my sandwiches, PCs and Windows/Linux, and making love to my Mrs! 555

If you want a conversation with me, bring it on.

I replied to you, so I don't think you're fake. I see someone just quoted another fake member, (on my ignore list), who just entered the thread. Some weird people in the world.

Only thing worst than the fakes, are the ones that question my own personal experiences or personal knowledge of a subject. Far from an expert, of anything, but I do know what I know and experiences are real.

Established cultures will always be there. People like tradition. I prefer country areas anyway, liking to be close to, but outside of a city, so I can visit there and enjoy what it offers, then return to peace.

Travel in Thailand is great as a getaway/break from routine for a family or couple. Less so, maybe for a single person. Regardless, mountain and sea views and temples; after you've seen a few, are much the same and invariably overrated.

The best views are 'people views' in my opinion, as those views perpetually change and there's never a dull moment.

My preference would be sitting in a busy beach or city cafe, especially in a caffeine fuelled environment where people really express themselves. An apartment rental overlooking a busy high street or harbourside or anywhere with activity makes for interesting observation and great conversation............

There's no way in really telling where anyone is unless they post pictures of themselves in certain areas, with a present timeline. Many, if not most, don't want to post pictures of themselves online for obvious reasons. I've been here a few years, and see some that exaggerate things, but we still can't tell if they're actually living here or not.

I know a few from this site that I've met who live here, but they are close by.

Sure, anyone can say they live here and say they've been all over, which could be all BS, a little BS or actually honesty.

From what some say, they obviously either live here or have, but you can post from anywhere and not be in Thailand so I understand what you're saying. I would think most who post here, that say they live here, actually do, but one never knows, so I give the benefit of the doubt. It's an online forum anyone can join, and the mods can at least tell the country by VPN, although some let in more information and some less. What's the point even posting here unless you have some sort of ties or actually live here?

That's why I posted the pic & details the way I did. Not intrusive or informative at all, just the district I live in. Which they could easily blank out, to just the province, if wanting.

Matter of fact, wife walked by while I was doing, and said 'don't post that' people will know where you live.

To late, as I've posted maps & Gmap sat. photos of house, so anyone could figure that out. I'm an open book.

I wouldn't give out too much info, as again, this is an online forum, and there are a couple here who obviously aren't wrapped too tight. Most others are likely decent people, family men, with wives and or children who are probably okay in person, but you never know who you're talking to here so it's best to keep some things locked away.

Not easy, as you can be in Czechoslovakia on a farm , never left the property besides to buy milk for an overbearing mother, sleeping in a barn with the sheep, on mom's laptop while she's out with the butcher, and say you're on Hollywood Boulevard, in one of your 4 condos, have a model wife, cash to burn, world traveler, made a fortune in real estate, met more presidents than Forest Gump, and played pro football.

Sex sells anything, including real estate...and.dealing with an ex bar girl or the like the probability of you losing your deposit or paying a premium on top of what the owner wants is a near certainty.

Same, here, TH, everything in wife's (of 20+yrs) name, since not a condo and I can't own land lots/house anyway. But income arrives from USA, out of mine and it goes into her account. I no longer own anything, and silly to, since 71, and she's 22 yrs younger.

Everything goes to daughter, if anything happens to both of us, or to wife, prematurely. No tax at all since <฿100M worth of assets.

... "In Thailand, inheritance tax is only applied to the portion of an estate that exceeds ฿100 million per individual heir." ...

First property video ever and she's out here embarrassing every Thai real estate agent who moonlights on the side. Proper outfit, solid English, and no creepy Farang breathing heavily in the background like a budget OnlyFans extra.

Just a clean, professional tour of a stupidly big one-bedroom for only 10,000 baht.

This video definitely changed my mind about opening 7 Eleven in Thailand.

It is probably Ok for people who are used to living in a small shoebox.

Plus it does not change the fact as a farang you can not own a 7/11 in Thailand.

You can buy one for a Thai person but you will not be the owner.

Dream on.

I dream of sitting in a thee bed detached house with similar facilities in Phuket where I write iPhone apps from home and sell them on the Apple Store worldwide , oops, sorry that is not a dream as I am doing it already.

Not that one needs to be in Muzzy area, but some of the better curries I've had have been down south. Had nice Beef Massaman from night market in Songkhla.

Nice experimenting with other culture's munchies, you can only get locally. Not the Massaman as everywhere in TH, but more options in the south ... usually.

Being a bigot does limit one's travel adventures. Who doesn't like a good Muslim/Malay (?) curry coffee1

I prefer not to go to places where the Woman are covered up with just their eyes showing , where alcohol is frowned upon, various other restrictions ,I don't like the call to prayer going off at 5 AM every morning or the local men ogling non Muslim Woman and constantly trying to have sex with them

Just my preferences , hardly bigoted .

If you like that, you go there , I will go elsewhere

I was at Central Plaza, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and damn, there were some sexy ass babe strolling around in 'Muslim' attire, and very few burkas seen. Actually, I've seen very few in TH. Suspect most I've seen in tourist areas, possibly aren't even Thai.

Saying that, of course, did see my first locally at Makro, PKK, just this week and seemed out of place. Although I didn't notice the tags on the SUV, so may not have been local.

Do Muslim men check out babes strolling around differently than non Muslims ?

Less alcohol, less idiots to deal with. That's a plus anywhere, and why I avoid expat, tourist are bars. Preferred Thai bars, clubs when single and on the prowl myself. Farang expats & tourist are quite annoying.

In Hat Yai there are ladyboys and massage girls standing near the muslims. They all blend in.
