At times I get involved with different threads from time to time.

On the odd occasion I'd be up late at night, looking through AN threads. Suddenly I'm getting multiple thumbs down, one after the other, on the same thread. I'd look who's active on the thread, it could suggest who the delinquent member giving me these many thumbs down.

Yesterday, I looked at my history, the particular posts having my multiple comments and many thumbs down. Sure enough, that was person responsible. 😂

This morning, it seems history of my thumbs down received have all been removed, I can't find any prior to yesterday 🤔

We kinda know who they are though, strange people

I think people moaning about the emojis is hilarious. I say we keep the emojis, but we should see which leftists who posts all the thumbs-down emojis.

Only positives and question mark. This leaves those who are cowardly and the few trolls to explain themselves, if they can, when they dislike a post. Question mark can have some not understanding, or

I am surprised a thread on emojis has overtaken the Middle East conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war in intensity. Maybe we need a Wow! emoji. Screenshot 2026-06-07 6.05.45 PM.png

I never figured emojis would matter so much to AN's members, especially since board reputation is not emphasized on AN.

Yes, I was just thinking we need something of an exclamation emoji. I just read a news article and wanted to react with something along those lines, and a thumbs up or heart did not seem appropriate for the content but an exclamation would definitely have been.

Hold on, was it you that got the record for the most thumbs down on a thread,

was it about 60 something.

Maybe you said something crap and people reacted to that crap post.

There's no smoke with out fire. as they say. thumbsup

At least giving a negative emotion, will not be a spineless action anymore, it will be a name behind it ;-)

Yes, that's right.

I was in agreement with Thailand's dual pricing.

It stirred up all the old miserable, grumpy, cheap Charlie's.

Were you one of them? 😂

BTW, yesterday, going through my many thumbs down emojis I received over the recent months, your name kept popping up.

Making the gesture meaningless, I'd reckon there are member(s) who thumb down every post reflexively without or rarely comment.

Are you asking for MY opinion, particularly?

a. I enjoy the smiley emoji, even though, as I have already stated, the smiley emoji can also have it's negative effects.

b. The smiley emoji, when perversely used, can goad authors such as I to continue writing weird yet amusing topics/comments.

c. Why can't we have a Mr. Pleasant Emoji which embodies the good feelings of the Kink's great tune?

d. If anyone were to ask my opinion, which matters not, then I would say....

GET RID OF ALL EMOJI, for good.

e. Also, one of the worst new recent changes has been to have readers able to use the QuestionMark Emoji, anonymously, and WITHOUT NUANCE......!

What does UNCLEAR mean, anyway?

Just a single question-mark is so very CONFOUNDING.

f. FORTUNATELY, as of about yesterday, this forum has now returned to FULL ATTRIBUTION, which means that if a member chooses to click on an emoji, then, at the very least, we are able to identify the culprit.

g. I hate emoji. BUT, if we MUST have emoji on TV, then I would prefer KINKY EMOJI......

h. The inclusion of emoji on TV is nonsense and juvenile. I do not resort to the use of emoji.....ever.......

The poll is also skewed.
I voted YES on #1
No on #2 because I want ZERO emojis. NOT because I want more than 2.

I agree with you.

However, I think the plural of emoji is emoji.

ah maybe a comment would have been a good alternative

Remove please.

Yes.

Remove them all.

They provide very little benefit for the forum.

They provide only confusion and consternation.

But the previous spineless BMs will probably not post as negatively as before, some will though, like you

Maybe we need a w*nker emoji, this will be very popular

Its not that important

Maybe.

However, more than anything,....WE NEED TO CONTINUE WITH ATTRIBUTION of the emoji.

We need to know.....

We cannot rely on the old aphorism: Who smelt it dealt it.

We must have....

ACCOUNTABILITY

This is the only way to control the frivolous use of emoji.

But, the best choice is to just get rid of these lousy little things.

Yes good idea.

Can't wait to put one on your posts. thumbsup

Says the poster that put a thumbs down on one of my posts yesterday.

What a laugh you are.

How about community notes like on X

How can this even arise as a question? A strong YES to emojies. But only as long as it shows who is behind those emojies. If one can not stand by his emojie (visible to everybody), is an "Internet Coward".

I agree but reality is different. Cowards need a group and look what they did during Covid. This forum during Covid had names attached to emojis and a group just shut down all discussion in regards to Covid. They got a rush out of abusing all dissenting opinions.

I do like the names though for now:)

Concerning the plural of EMOJI

I say: The plural of emoji is emoji, and here is why....

Also, this part of Japanese culture.....

I do NOT respect.

The Japs should have kept their emoji to themselves.

This is only as one might expect.

What do I mean by this?

I just wonder why? It doesn't make much sense to me.
Why does anyone give a damn what complete strangers on the Internet think about their comments? And it appears that some folks get really worked up about it, too!

I thought it was a bad idea because I know how cowards need group approval but for now I do find it interesting. Hopefully the person that started this thread is taking a look at the people that are chronically downvoting. We know who they are and I expect that the two of them will become 4, 8, 20.... as has happened in the past on "this forum" when names were displayed.

I don't mind being downvoted by someone that disagrees with me and many do on this thread. It gets frustrating when they start shutting down discussion they don't condone.

Multiple petty bickering posts removed.

As much as I think your being a bit of a tit.

I do think it would be nice to see how many up, down what every votes, you get over the

entire length you have been a poster on the forum.

That would be very telling and surprising I bet.

What would distort it is the spineless BMs who post thumbs down way too frequently, there should be a daily/monthly limit for people like you, I can't remember you anyway, so less emojis than a normal person

What's a BMs ? pm me if it's real bad i have no clue what that is.

There should be no limit on use of emojis.

This is you just wanting to control the table.

That's the go to for old grumpy farts.

complete strangers

Please, Sir....

TV is a community.

We are NOT strangers.

Some, here on TV, are like family to me.

In fact, TV, and TV members, are pretty much the only family I have, these days.

It pains me that you imply that I am a "stranger".

Strange, maybe.

Every. Single. Time. The posters that complain there is too much Trump, board is too negative, so and so posts too much, on and on are always guilty. You've posted dozens of times on Trump. And you call other posters snowflakes.
