Cheers. So it is. When did that happen? A good move I've been calling for since it was introduced.

I think people moaning about the emojis is hilarious. I say we keep the emojis, but we should see which leftists who posts all the thumbs-down emojis.

Only positives and question mark. This leaves those who are cowardly and the few trolls to explain themselves, if they can, when they dislike a post. Question mark can have some not understanding, or

Show me where I have done so. It's just something that is living inside your heads. It's not reality. Show me. Link to the argument.

My head too. You love getting in long, ridiculous arguments with intelligent, open-minded people. You just refuse to answer any questions, lest you be found out.

Read the room, we aren't going to trawl through threads to find examples, it's clear as day, I'm surprised you are oblivious to it

Read the room? You mean there is a group of you? 😉

Basically you have made an accusation of which you cannot provide any evidence. Yet, you wish me to accept a patent untruth. If it is true, it should be easy to demonstrate.

If you need to trawl the distant past to find an example, that lends to the truth of you not seeing me having pointless arguments with @fredwiggy , now doesn't it? It's just something that lives on in your minds.

No, I just moved on for the most part. I determined he is speaking his truth and was the type that didn't change coarse for better or worse. I definitely got zero pleasure out of possibly causing him pain. If you knew you were hurting him, would you stop?

Hurting him? Don't be silly.

If he is hurt, he is creating that pain for himself. Sick and stones...remember? It's your own mind creating the problems.

If I accept free speech, why would I imagine speaking the truth might hurt someone else?

Funny how it doesn't take long for the real to appear, especially when you no longer interact. Give them enough rope.........

I appreciate that and no, no one has caused me any pain here as I've always been honest about my life and have nothing to feel ashamed about, besides choosing the wrong partners and seeing my children's pain when they've figured their mothers out. Picking up the pieces is what I do, as they've always been the most important things in my life.

I actually disliked it myself, interacting with a few here in long arguments, trying to prove my truths to some who couldn't care less about that truth, pissing a few here off by arguing too long with them, proving them wrong but having that deflected and turned around over and over like a broken record. Apologies again to the decent members here who understand what I tried to do.

The top 3 thumbs down people each week should get a 7 day suspension for being negative. That would fix the negative problem.

Simple fix I would have thought.

Do you mean people who RECEIVE or GIVE the most Thumbs down...........or maybe both!

I gave you the 'cry-baby' emoji for that one. Understand what you tried to do? This isn't about your partners nor children. It is about you.

Could be but they are just going back to what was done during Covid and about 25 members made it impossible to have discussions and got members suspended by overwhelming moderators. I hope this go around will be different but human nature can be a btch. Once a few in a group start chumming the discussion with emojis then it becomes hostile in no time.

If honestly, I can hardly believe that you have been sucked in by this. The man exhibited exactly the same behaviour when discussing food or pretty much any subject. Now he is trying to elicit sympathy by using his exes and children, suggesting that was the only reason why he argued with anyone here.

You don't get it. DO you think we are stupid?

We know how you feel about Freddy and many have made the same points you have. I made many of the same arguments you have. At some point you would be better served to let it go. Freddy isn't changing and I now try to find common ground with him. I still may have an argument in the future with him but it seems like your mission in life :)

And I think it's great! A long-overdue change IMO

Thank you to whoever made the decision. 👍👍

If the thumbs down emoji is continued, I would especially like to see it changed so that it doesn't detract from one's community reputation. It appears people are using the thumbs down emoji for the sole purpose of hurting a poster's community reputation, sometimes out of jealousy.

Am I alone in sensing a degree of, umh, "co-ordination" in applying the thumbs down emoji?

I wasn't aware that it could be used to reduce ones "reputation score"; whilst I don't give a monkeys about my reputation, perhaps the "score reduction function " should be removed. In fact sod it, get rid of the thumbs down altogether!

Surely the 'thumbs down' emoji just means you disagree? Very useful on all the provocative political posts.

They never stop, as it's their character ingrained since childhood. I also have no problem with anyone disagreeing with things I say here, as we all have our own way of thinking and seeing things.

I do have a problem with those who take what truths you say, and either are jealous of how you say you live your life, or are severely disturbed and turn those truths around to suit their own sick narrative.

What I do appreciate is honesty, and those that eventually see what I see in a select few here, and don't fall for their BS.This is exactly why I no longer engage with adults that act like a 5 year old who's never gotten past that stage.

I think you enjoy being the centre of attention too much. Half of what you say is fair but then rant on and on. You don't know him and vice versa. Your personalities are very similar and it's a clash of egos.

Better this way, so we can see who they are, and know why, leaving room for explanations instead of just placing thumbs downs because they don't like someone who either proved them wrong, or are prejudiced against them because they live in a certain country.

Or maybe they just think you're a boring, repetitive knob and don't want to interact with you? A thumbs down gets that message over without getting into a pointless quagmire of back and forward nonsense posts which aren't going to change that impression. A red one even more so if it hadn't been replaced.

Seeing the same 5 to 10 people giving thumbs down to many posts. So now we know who they are.

Flex appears to be no 1 user of Thumbs down. I don't even know who he is.

Apparently the algorithm has just recently been changed so that thumbs down doesn’t deduct points from reputation score

I'm sorry to say. For the most part; YES.

  • Popular Post

How can this even arise as a question? A strong YES to emojies. But only as long as it shows who is behind those emojies. If one can not stand by his emojie (visible to everybody), is an "Internet Coward".

Or maybe the emoji poster should only be visible to the recipient. Too many snowflakes on here worried about not being agreed with.

As for suggested emojis how about one of these for polarizing leftist/rightist/Trump US BS.

We? Is that the group think about which you indicated disdain for earlier?

Why are you telling me about your current relationship betwixt yourself and @fredwiggy ? That is your business. Just don't try to tell me how I should conduct mine. You just learn how to deal with yourself and be happy with that. My thoughts about @fredwiggy are mine and I will do with them what I will. I express myself and you express yourself. That's how it works.

Have you noticed how everyone has a slightly different view of how others should express themselves? There should only be this kind of emoji and these rules.... Everyone trying to rig the game to suit themselves. I am not bound by your rules. Respect that. If you don't like to read my posts, utilise the Ignore function.

Is the reputation score an important feature in your life?

That's quite enlightening. Have one member, 'disagrees' with me quite a bit, but has only made 1 post in almost 8 years. (RH)

Interesting who does disagree with me, and even more surprising, a few that haven't 'disagreed' with me. Actually expected to see their names.

At times I get involved with different threads from time to time.

On the odd occasion I'd be up late at night, looking through AN threads. Suddenly I'm getting multiple thumbs down, one after the other, on the same thread. I'd look who's active on the thread, it could suggest who the delinquent member giving me these many thumbs down.

Yesterday, I looked at my history, the particular posts having my multiple comments and many thumbs down. Sure enough, that was person responsible. 😂

This morning, it seems history of my thumbs down received have all been removed, I can't find any prior to yesterday 🤔

Another assumption and again wrong. Defending yourself against trolls isn't trying to be the center of attention. That means nothing to me. I'm here to share ideas, give and take advice, from decent members only. Pointing them out so others can see them for what they are helps everyone. Seeing how many warnings and bans they get makes it clear.

I am surprised a thread on emojis has overtaken the Middle East conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war in intensity. Maybe we need a Wow! emoji. Screenshot 2026-06-07 6.05.45 PM.png

I never figured emojis would matter so much to AN's members, especially since board reputation is not emphasized on AN.

If an emoji hurts your feelings now you're in for a world of hurt in the next 10-20 years when AGI takes over.

Sad, weak. 😀
