Meanwhile, back to the football.

Young kids at Barcelona, showing the talent to come.

Some outstanding skills on display there.

(Sarcasm alert)

Just a shame that you display your anti-white bias by showing 2 goals scored by the black kid and only 1 by the white lad🤦

Says a guy parading his own narrative. Chin up Jonny Bellingham saved England’s bacon in the final minutes of the game. What a fantastic achievement, he’s arguably the proudest and most celebrated

I'd like to ask JonnyF and indeed anyone who really knows about football, why can't British players dribble like this?

We pass better these days, like the kids here, but it's rare to see such superb dribbling in UK soccer.

Or are things changing with the kids?

As @Nick Carter icp says, Barca scout the world for talented youngsters and some of those lads are clearly exceptionally gifted.

I think that the talent has always been there in the UK. Imo it was the coaching that was at fault. I don't believe that the average youngster kicking a ball around the streets in London, Manchester or Glasgow is any less talented than his counterparts in Amsterdam, Buenos Aries or Barcelona. Different was that in the past, as soon as the coaches got hold of them in England, youngsters were coached to be aggressive in winning the ball at the expense of trying to keep it, further developing their ball skills and game awareness.

Not sure if this is an urban myth but it was reported that some English professional teams in the '60s did not train with the ball during the week as it made them 'hungrier' to get it on Saturday matchday!

Fortunately, coaching in the UK has improved. Whether it is yet on a par with other parts of Europe is open to debate.

It is Mehdi Hasan. Extremely intelligent and well informed broadcaster who can tear anyone to shreds. I urge you or anyone to watch any of his debates - he'll debate anyone, any time.

And his quote doesn't seem to bother you at all.

The Full Quote

The comment comes from an interview clip where Mehdi Hasan was discussing the widespread, alarmist right-wing media narratives regarding Muslims living in Great Britain. The full statement he made is:

''See, every time we go back to the UK... because they think the UK is some Muslim hellhole dystopia run by kind of Muslims, and we're like, 'I wish.'"

Context of the Remark

  • The Target of the Joke: Hasan was mocking right-wing, anti-immigrant, and Islamophobic commentary—predominantly from commentators outside the UK—who frequently exaggerate the demographic and political influence of British Muslims by framing the country as an "invaded" or Muslim-controlled state.

  • The Backlash: Despite the satirical tone intended to highlight the absurdity of those narrative claims, a clipped version reading “People think that the UK is a dystopia run by Muslims… I wish” circulated heavily on social media. Critics and right-wing political commentators quickly condemned the clip, interpreting it literally as an open admission of anti-Western or Islamic supremacist views.

It doesn't matter if you explicitly use the term racist or not.

Intelligent arguments are dismissed.

The France team is ABSURD. There are millions of white French nationals in France and many of them can be developed into world class footballers. They just don't seem to want that.

You'd better apply for the job of coach of France's national team as your knowledge of football is so extensive.

What quote is that?

Edit: oh dear, you got taken in by a clipped quote as you didn't do your research. It's so easy for the Farages of the world to dupe you guys as you don't check anything - you'll take a clipped quote in a screen grab as gospel, just like Barra in the other thread saying the Albanian kid can't be deported "because he can't get his favourite chicken nuggets there". And people got upset about bandy bananas.

You really make it so easy for the manipulators to manipulate.

I know who Mehdi Hasan is and I know he’s extremely articulate.

He, unlike you, has no need of ripped memes emblazoned with out of context quotes.

He constructs his own arguments and speaks for himself, you should try it.

Truncated, out of context and no evidence it was anything he actually said.

So no, the purported quote doesn’t bother me, the presentation of obviously incomplete statements with no link to the actual source is more of a reflection on yourself.

I'm articulate and I construct my own arguments -- sometimes.

Ok, that was a bad post. I admit.

I didn't have time to do a Phd research on the guy, so let's assume it's taken out of context.

It seems you didn’t have the time to provide a link to where you ripped the meme from either.

‘PhD’ is that one of those Tate qualifications, you know the guy, the one facing charges if child sex crimes?

Did you find your Tate PhD useful in Thailand?

I'm the one who did the most research on this topic -- Roman Empire, Mexico/Texas

I deserve a prize

I may even take a trip to France to investigate how they recruit their players

I no longer have that link

It says a lot about you to bring up Tate in this conversation.

This video just popped into my feeds and reinforces what I was saying.

Germany is having to crack down on "Islamic political groups" because many of them do not want to integrate. They want to assert their own political ideologies and believe they are above the state.

Anyway, this thread has died out it seems.

But here it is.

Ok, thanks for doing the heavy lifting.

I'm getting lazy and sloppy in my old age.

Should have checked the source more carefully.
