Play that funky music white boy...

Not wuote sure how we got on to "play that funky music"

But J.L Hooker is Legend. Complete. Total. Legend.

You see Lops, if you hadn't spent so much time off yer face in the eighties, you'd have known him far better by now.

....

:o

He would have never got in Slade ( OK, I'll give you he probably never asked, but he still wouldn't have got in anyway........no platforms )

I heard the story that Noddy asked to be John Lee Hooker's hat roady. Well the Hook always managed to pull better girls than anyone in Slade ever did :o

Who said I was off my head, I would see it more as experimental transition....and look what comes at the end of that, I see half elephant, half rabbit people all around me!

Also Kayo my Wife also has something large and pink, yes you guessed it, its me! Back on topic that song is well cool and one of my favourites by the blues man!

Is your wife's name Kayo too?

That's awesome.

Couldn't get me, so you found a bird named Kayo?

Dude, I've considered you a friend for a while now, but this... this is just too much!

Bonnie Raitt is a legend in her own right and she learned her craft as a young women litterally under Mississippi John Hurt and Fred McDowell. She went on tour with both men plus Junior Wells and Buddy Guy in 1967. John Lee Hooker was a major influence on her style and delivery of the blues. She said it was hearing Hooker play on the '63 album "Blues at Newport" that litterally hooked her onto the blues.

Bonnie over the years has had the tragedy and success of the blues, she became addicted to heroin only to substitute cocaine as a means of overcoming that addiction. She almost killed herself with alcohol abuse but is now clean on all substances. I have seen Bonnie several times and she is a great player. In the 80s she was pushed off into "pretty blues" which didn't interest her and detracted from her real credibility however it kept her touring and financial at a time when the Blues were dead in the water. Various projects including the Mr Lucky recordings with John Lee got it back for her and she threw out the embroidered shirts and string arrangements and got back "dirty and nasty" again. If you are interested in listening to her music get a copy of "collection" it has a full span of her career and a good jumping point into her style. For John Lee check out John Lee Hooker and Friends (1984-1992) Raitt is on there as is Albert Collins, Ry Cooder, Robert Cray, John Hammond Jr, and Charlie Musselwite. Other good Hooker tape is "live in Montreal" with Gary Alongi on guitar - he is no slouch at either slide or standard tuning guitar. It is fairly dated but the music is timeless just like the man himself.
