Severe flood hits Yasothon

BANGKOK: -- People living in five villages of the northeastern province of Yasothon are now cut off from the outside world after a severe flood has hit the province and the water level in the Chee river has overflowed its banks, making it impassable for cars to travel in the area.

Mr. Suthee Markboon, governor of Yasothon, said although the floodwater level in the provincial seat had receded, five districts situated along the river were still facing a critical situation as there was no sign that that the level of floodwaters would recede.

Provincial authorities have already distributed 2,000 necessity kits for flood victims.

The water level of the river was measured at 8.80 meters early this morning, 20 centimeters higher than Saturday.
