I arrive in Phuket on December 22nd from a cruise.

I get off and fly to Bangkok on the same day.

The next day the 23rd I get the Oriental Express to Singapore.

Then on the 28th I fly back to Bangkok for 43 days.

Then back to UK.

Will I need a single entry or double entry Visa?

Thanks

This is a bit tricky. You could get a double entry, but the cheaper way (with a small amount of risk) is to enter Thailand first on a 30 day stamp and ask them to SAVE your VISA. To do this, do not write the visa number on the entry card for the first entry and to be safe talk to the officer before you hand over your passport explaining that you need to save the visa for a later entry. I did this before and others have reported no problems. If he stamps your visa USED the first time, you then do have a problem.

Arriving from a cruise, going on the Orient express, I dont think you are looking for the cheapest (maybe risky) solution. So yes as a tourist Visa is cancelled once you enter Thailand you will need a double entry as you intend to enter Thailand on two occasions.

...I think a double entry visa is the way to go

Absolutely! I would do the same in your situation.

Fair enough. Though the OP asked if it was required. It is not required because it can be done with one entry. But good point, why stress it?
