Looking for any quick suggestions as the hotels are filling up. Need 2 rooms, walking distance to the sea, A/C and pref a pool. Near the centre of Patong, about 1600 B per night. From 23 Dec to 5 Jan.

Just been to Patong last night and asked in one of the beach hotels for a room, not for me but for a customer.

Nearly all hotels are fully booked long before xmas and for 1600.-Baht you'll get nothing I think(with your requirements).

I think you might need to pay a little more.

personally, I recommend re-mortgaging you house if you fancy phuket in high season.

It's not just high season you want, but peak season! 20/12 - 10/01.

Try the Expat Hotel, you never know.

sooooo many hotels in patong are well and truly OVER booked for the entire peak period. one hotel i was talking to just last week has about 50 rooms and they are already 30 rooms over booked.

another hotel in karon has 120 rooms but is 100 rooms over booked!

you will need a lot of luck getting anywhere with a pool, close to the beach etc for 1600thb a night and will probably have to double that to get anything at all.

there is a GUESTHOUSE called jinny (google jinny phuket) who have small, clean rooms, with air con, hot water and a small pool. not sure of their peak price, but you can always check with them.

i would offer you rooms in my new hotel but they are way over your budget.
