Here is a funny one. In the 1990 election (state I think) in Melbourne two of my "mates" went around to 25 different polling booths & "voted" on my behalf. Didn't need ID in those days, just ticked your name off the electoral roll.

Got a letter in the mail 3 weeks later stating that since I voted more than once my vote didn't count & would have to pay a $200 fine. Fine was no probs - mates payed. Vote didn't count - could never figure out how they would deduct it from the final tally!
