Suvarnabhumi Status Through 2007

Featured Replies

Hi! Can anyone tell me what went on with the airport since it's opening on September 2006 up to this day? Meaning, is it fully or partially functioning, due to reconstruction work? Is it open for both domestic and international flights?

The Suvarnabhumi is part of a lecture i'm working on, so any light shed on the info above would be REALLY helpfull for it's accurate completion.

Open for everything, already reaching its peak capacity, some resurfacing of taxiways and addition of seats & toilets still to be completed.

thank u SO much! i think u guys got us covered!

You may not be interested, but the environmental, political and social impact of the airport would seem an intergral part of what went on. Current proposed compensation for residents/colleges etc. experiencing disturbance has been halved and meanwhile many lives have been put on hold since the opening with no definitive timescale for a conclusion and payout. Of course it was known that this would happen before the opening.

Some articles in the 'Suvarnabhummi' part of the forum could give more depth to your article - and the archives of the Bangkok Post?
