5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern Sumatra

Sumatra, Indonesia (AHN) - A quake with a 5.2 magnitude tremble the southern Sumatra in Indonesia on Thursday, according to U.S. Geological Survey reports.

The USGS published on its official website that the tremor hit the epicenter at 5:01 p.m. (Indonesia time) 80 kilometers west-northwest of Bengkulu, Sumatra at a depth of 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) set by location program.

There were no direct reports of injuries and damages.

Some areas struck by the quake are southwest of Jambi, south-southeast of Padang (both in Sumatra), and west-northwest of Jakarta in Java as well.
