Best Company For Internet And Ubc Service?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have WP and need phoneline and fax along internet service for my place in patong, where to apply? Is TOT company good option to go with? Also how much for UBC? i was told 300bhat month?where

thank you

TT&T give better phone & internet service. Their office (small) on the block to the left of OTOP market on Rat-u-tit (second road back from beach).

UBC sat Tv gold package is 1,568 baht/month and platinum is 2,155 baht/month. For 300 baht/month you are looking a cable (land line) TV. 2 suppliers in Patong, PA cable on road out of Patong, and Dolphin TV (don't know where their office is located).

a quick and easy way to sign up for UBC is to either visit their main office in Phuket Town opposite Royal Phuket City Hotel, Or stop by their Kiosk in Lotus or Big C. they run specials from time to time regarding packages and installation so keep your eyes open, my installation was free the month I signed up.

Re Tel line I think that TT&T is better but it may come down to who has an available number for you, Visit both and see how long hte waite is for either line. expect to wait up to 3 months.

Also check on ADSL availability based on your location from your Tel-co provider, you may only have one decision.

Thank you guy for answrers. Btw who offers wi-fi service? I check with TOT, they give wireless internet only

First you need an ADSL service, then you buy your own wirelss router at Big C basement for about 5,000 baht. doubt whether TOT supply wi-fi router. TT&T do maxnet ADSL. Same price as TOT @ 1,000 baht + 70 baht VAT for 2 meg down, 512 K up. this is more reliable than TOT service.

CAT do a wireless service using an aircard/sierra card inserted into your computer. No need for phone line.

Would it be good idea to use Cat for wifi internet, and use either TT&T or TOT for phoneline/fax? where is cat office in patong?

Thanks

CAT office in Patong is off Rat-u-tit, opposite the main entrance to Andaman Beach Suites.

Usually folks use the CAT air card when they cannot get a land phone line or are too far out to get reliable ADSL service or want a portable service. If you plan to live in Patong it should be Ok to use TOT or TT&T phone line ADSL service, subject to a line being available in your area. Often there is a waiting list.

went to TT&T office, no line at all for coming months. even they didn't want me to apply and wait. However internet wasn't a problem, but that's not phoneline

I live just south of the Chalong circle and have been pleasantly surprised with the internet service I have been getting from TOT. It hardly ever disappears and is reasonably priced; about 600 per month plus 100 for the phone line plus any phone calls I make. Speed is fine but does get slower at high usage times. But, you do need a phone line.
