The last few days the error messages about the unavaibility of Hotmail summerizing! What's the problem? Mayby the system at Hotmail is under intense pressure because of the movement to @live.com?!

Read the News:

Microsoft Officially Opened @live.com Email Registration

Microsoft has officially opened the much anticipated and well overdue registration for the new @live.com email addresses.

This minor update along with the rest of wave 2 of Microsoft’s Windows Live Suite allows users to now fully take advantage of Windows Live. Microsoft should have opened registration to the @live.com acronym when the company first started Windows Live, but nonetheless this is a welcome change.

The company now gives users a change and the ability to get away from the old "Hotmail" acronym and finally puts their email service in-line with the rest of the Windows Live Suite. The @live.com email acronym is one of many updates the company has planned for today, later tonight the company will be releasing updated final versions of Windows Live Mail, Messenger, Writer, Photo Gallery, and Family Safety.

Among the changes to the Windows Live Suite is one that those using Windows Vista x64 will now be able to install and use the entire Windows Live Suite (as well as the new unified installer) on your x64 based system. Also, Microsoft has revamped Messenger in terms of security and changed the user interface and gave it a new look. Microsoft has also updated Writer, Mail, and Photo Gallery to give it a more polished look and to give it the "Vista Feel" because the prior release(s) didn’t quite fit in with Windows Vista’s sleek user interface.

Stay tuned as we will have more in the next few hours as Microsoft launches the rest of the updates to Windows Live.

Also, feel free to get your new Windows Live ID and get the @live.com email address you always wanted but couldn’t have until now!

I switched my hotmail to live along with the install of messenger 8.1 and was using windows live one care at that time months ago.  I don't use the messenger or one care anymore, but the live mail even from my linux is still working fine and have had no problem with it not even today.

Hi :o

I never had a problem with Hotmail, but NOW i've got one. I am using Live Mail (the application) since a while, but it's a beta. Reading your post i decided to get the new version and maybe one of those @live.com addys as well - but for some reason, i always get to sites IN THAI!! I managed to download the installer, but it TOO is all Thai!

Changing my location in the Control Panel to "U.S.A." did not help - i still get "Thai only".

Would you have a link where the English version can be found..? I'd appreciate that.

With kind regards......

This is the Opera bookmark that was created during a sign in.  It is my normal route to sign in.  It still shows some ads about live and passport on the sign in page, but I have a passport and it logs me into a live account.  All the ads that show are US based so I would assume the server is as well.  Months ago I was using the Thai server as the ads were all Thai and many were interfareing with the operation of the web page by covering controls if your mouse touched the ads box by mistake.  Something I would call an abuse, thats what drove me to find a way to sign in somewhere else.  This link has been working vary well daily.  From a Linux OS and Opera 9.24 browser so you should not require windows or IE7 to use hotmail.  I also was getting ads on messenger that were Thai, but they stopped after I did some changes in the messenger which switch my location, but its been awhile and I don't recall the menus I used and I am not using messenger in windows anymore.  I might add that I have several yahoo accounts and they all suffered the same issue and were resolved in the same manner Nav. to a offshore server and keep the bookmarks for the sign in.

Good Luck

Thanks :o

But your link only offers passport.com - i.e. only Hotmail, can't get "live.com" when using the "signup" there. I found another link via google but i've been trying it since yesterday late night and everytime i try to register a new e-mail addy all i get is "We are currently fixing an error with our signup system" BS message - AFTER having punched in all details etc. Typical M$.

I am not using IE either - just Firefox.

Best regards.....
