try TopOCR

I have not tried it but it was praised by Wanda Sloan in the BKK Post Database on Sep.26,2007 in her column 'APPShot'. Can not handle Thai as I understand it.

Could you trell me which choice you have if this is the only program which works with Thai character?!

If you want to use a progtram for a long time like you write: ""freeware because I want to use it for long term ."" means for me you would like to is for some professional works (even if that work is private) and you should consider to use a licensed program!

For me it would be out of any question to buy such program I need and if there isn't a freeware available!

You've 30 days for to test that program and within this period you'll know it suits to requirement. If it does, you should buy it!

If it's to expensive for you, check eBay or other place to get it for cheaper cost. Or check the Scanner manufacturer which one is give that prog with the Scanner.

But I strongly suggest to do THIS work by yourself because you want to profit from it. A Forum like this one is to help and may give some information if you're unable to find the required info by yourself. But to find simple info like this you really have to by yourself and not take the time from others.

That you're on this forum shows that you know how to use the Internet and even how to get info!

You should even think about that people which developing such software! This work isn't for free at all, it cost a lot of time, effort, computer hours and even internet time. All of this you have to counting as kind costings! The idea and the way to get an idea to work on an computer is something which is very difficult to count!

Sometimes it needs years to get a software to work as they should. How the programmer get some benefit for hims work? May you should think to develop the program you need/want by your self! And than start to think that you want to give this program for free away to anyone who want it!

So think about and than consider to buy that program which can do the work you want to get don! Because it isn't you who is doing that work, it's the program on your computer. You feed the scanner wit paper only and take the result!

Again, if there not any other choice, what you want/will/can do?!

Thai OCR Software is really "special"! To find this special Software for Linux or so I do believe there isn't one!

If you want to be on the legal side you have to use original Software and most of them cost "some" money! Abode Acrobat Professional 8 by the way is the most expensiv PDF Creator/Writer Software while it's the reader only which is free for using!
