Just got back after 5 days away and AOT have upped their rates. I am not sure what they charged for Bangkok drops but Pattaya by Nissan Teana is now B2900 (was B2600) and a minibus is up to B3200 from B2900.

Combination of high gas prices and pending high season I guess.

From my experience with the AOT Limousine service, the prices are purely arbitrary.

Once, arriving form Phuket, I asked for a limousine to bring me home. My home is just after Rom Klao, about 15 to 20 min drive. The price was THB 500, which I thought was fair.

2 weeks later, same destination, but this time the asking price was THB 1000. When I asked if there has been a price increase, the answer was, No, it was always like this. Then why I did I have to pay THB 500 last time? Impossible, it must be 1000. Since it is utterly senseless to discuss such a topic or I would risk to loose my "jai yen", I took a taxi (which, by the way, also cheated on me, but that's a different story).

Obviously there is a problem with transportation from Suvarnaphum airport. Does AOT know? I think they do, but ...

funny, for a while there they were quoting an 800 baht fare to be to get to Sukhumvit (including tolls). Later got told it was a promotional price. Now in the range of 1000 baht.

I used them if travelling with family and baby, but go the taxi myself. Problem with the taxi's I always seem to score the stinky ones that are about to fall to bits. Always, always happens!

Yes my last trip to Thailand last weekend I got charged 2900 Baht airport to Pattaya, then the girl had the cheek to ask for the 100 Baht change as a tip (no problem for me - if you don't ask you don't get). I always use AoT limos as I know they use good new cars and good drivers and my life is worth more than can be saved by scratching around the airport.

HOWEVER, on another thread ("my taxi ride from hel_l" or something like that) someone posted some contact info for Mr T Taxis out of Pattaya. 900 Baht airport to Pattaya including tolls and good reports on service. So next time I might give them a try out.

I looked at an old AOT receipt and the airport-Pattaya fare was always B2900 with a B300 'discount'. The new receipt is identical, just no discount. So I discount the 'fuel price' as the reason for the raise and go with the 'stick it to the visitors in high-season' reason.

I used to use Thai Limo from Pattaya to Don Meung and the minibus from DM to Pattaya. I asked why only 1500 Baht Ptty - DM but other way much more (I think they asked 4,500) and was told "Our Fare down as customer has no money as he spend all money on holiday"

Bell Travel now do bus from Survanabhum (?) to Pattaya with transfer to your hotel delivery a good price. Check it out.

Problem with the taxi's I always seem to score the stinky ones that are about to fall to bits. Always, always happens!

Not just you! I always end up with either the knackered looking ones on the outside or they look ok outside but you get in and it either reeks of joss sticks or some other perfume!

I think the only time I remember getting a 'normal' standard taxi in Bangkok was my on first ever visit . . . after that it's been downhill everytime!

but no, just know of an independent who does the job well and charges a reasonable amount without all the ridiculous over-charges...
