Apple Imac's

My position is that just over a year ago I was persuaded by a friend to dump my old iMac which I had been using without a problem for 8 years. It was my 4th Mac and its speed matched mine ie slow and ponderous. I also used a PowerBook which served me faithfully for 6 years until it was stolen last year. So 13 months ago under pressure I splashed out and bought a new Intel iMac 4.1 for 50K Baht and I am sorry to report that I have had nothing but problems with it since. And most frustratingly my old iMac is still working perfectly!

In the first 2 weeks the new iMac 4.1 crashed and had to be returned to the dealer twice ....

After 5 months the Remote had to be replaced ....

After 9 months the Mouse had to be replaced ....

Now 2 weeks after the 12 months warranty has expired the LCD display has malfunctioned. There are six "pencil thin yellow and blue lines running from the top to the bottom of the screen" which I presume means that the tiny transistors that make up the LCD panel are not working properly.

The cost of repair/replacement I am advised is 20,000 Baht. A bitter pill to swallow. Apple Thailand of course are not interested. I was just wondering if others have encountered similar problems and if anyone can advise me what is the best road to travel at this juncture?
