Pattaya police crack down beggars and prostitutes

PATTAYA: --The police in Thailand’s eastern resort city of Pattaya are cracking down on beggars and prostitutes.

Fourteen beggars and commercial sex workers, including illegal immigrants from Cambodia, have been arrested on the streets of Pattaya.

The local police say the immigrants are being held in custody and will be deported.

Thai nationals are being checked, and will be released in due course.

Most of the fourteen people arrested were rounded up outside the Mike Department Store in the centre of the city.

The police's move is aimed at promoting local tourism and boosting the resort city's image as one of Thailand's most renowned tourist attractions.

Took a walk down the beach road last night and around 9 o'clock there were a dozen or so cops on the prom moving south to north 6 on bikes and the rest on foot followed by two pick-ups, I don't know how many ppl were arrested but where are these guys at 4 in the morning when the ladyboys are hassling drunks
