Trump's Tariff Obsession Explained
Trump does seem to have this obsession with Tariffs. Put a Tariff on everybody else and it will solve all your domestic trade issues! Most Economists reject his plan, saying it will blowback on US consumers and pump their cost of living higher. So where did Trump get this idea from? David McWilliams is an Irish economist, journalist and radio presenter. He has made a rather good podcast which explains the source of Trump's idea very entertainingly. It's definitely worth a listen - you'll learn a lot. Hint: Remember Trump going on about Mount McKinley, and how it's name should never have been changed? How is this connected to tariffs? Listen and learn! https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/trump-tariffs-the-gold-rush-the-mckinley-playbook/id1462649946?i=1000689257374 -

Future Uncertain for Retiree Bank Accounts in Thailand
I did mine three times. First time at Krungsri head office about 2 years ago. The machine was not working. Did it a second time at another branch a few months later. Did it with UOB last year. Both times using my passport, although the UOB staff did not know how to use the passport reader. In the end about 4 branch staff completed the massive banking arrangement that they had asked me to do. It is required to transfer over THB50K. I guess you didn't ask, or read the 2 or 3 letter narrative, such as "SC" = Service Charge, or "FCD" = Cash Deposit via Cash Deposit Machine. (Glossary of abbreviations usually in the back of your passbook.) -

Family Rush to Rescue British Man With Mystery Illness in Thailand
Someone in his family should sell their car or something before it's an international charity case. Just because we're expats in Thailand why should this affect us more than charity of people back home or our own family? Not to mention charity for millions of Thais in need in the country we're living. It doesn't sit right with me either. -
