Golf In Buriram Or Nearby

Recommended Posts

Hi, yesterday I went to the 9 hole course on the army base just passed Khao Khadrong (the forest park with the beautiful large Buddha), and I was wondering if there are any other courses around? I have heard about a 9 hole in Surin but I'm not sure where it is or if it is worth a visit. I sawa post from 2005 that mentioned another course in Buriram but have yet to locate it and again is it better or worse than the course at Khao Khadrong

It would appear that if you wanted an 18 hole course you would need to go to Khorat as it has 3/4, is that the case or are there some additional options? Are there any courses being built or in the pipeline?

If you live in Buriram or nearby where can you go for golf equipment?

I understand that the golf range just passed the big Toyota dealership has a teacher available for lessons and was wondering if anyone had used this guy before?

Many thanks

hi Mike

My self and a bunch of guys play regularly at the army course here in Buri Ram. Its not the best course in the world but you have what you have.

For the one and only golf shop in town. Come back to town from the golf course and turn left at the elephant monument. Go down that road and you will see a sign in English for HOTEL. Just past that on the left is a car body repair place, on the same left bend right next to body shop is a golf shop. I understand he also has a place near Khao Yai region. Most of the gear is second hand, but some new bags, gloves sets etc. Nex nearest would be the mall in Khorat.

Hope that helps

Yes there is a 9 hole course on the army base in Surin.

It is on the Prasat road just after you come out of town on the way to Chong Chom.

I would say the fairways are better than the Buriram course as they have a much better irrigation system there now. They won't be playing any majors there, but it's what were stuck with really.

It's probably easier than the Buriram course and slightly cheaper also.

There is another army course near Khao Phanum Rung, about 6 km south of the Highway 24 turn off between Prakhonchai and Nang Rong.

I've not played there but passed it in the car a few times. Its pretty flat and looked quite dry when I last saw it, did not look as well kept as the Surin or Khao Kradong courses.

Hi

I have a set of clubs but a friend hasnt got his yet, can we hire an extra set for him at any of the 3 courses mentioned?

How much does each course cost for 18 holes (ie 2x9)?

Thanks

At Buri Ram course, I go with a mate who has no sticks and we share mine. Just make sure you take 2 caddies. Also a word to the wise, make sure you wear something with a collar. I played in a t shirt and got told that wasnt proper. Polo shirt or regular shirt ok, shorts ok, no metal spikes though, only plastic type ones. Membership to Buri Ram is 1800 baht. 18 holes as a non member is 350, as a member is 250. 2nd year of membership is 1200 i think and after that free member for life.

Thanks for that, off to Buriram course it is then (at least initially). They may not like people who can't play very well. We will see :-)

As long as you pay the green fees, I dont thiink they give a monkeys how well anyone plays. I started again after several years of not playing and have a good hack around each time. Course isnt that busy so noone cares.

Normally give the caddies 100 baht per 9 holes.

I went to the driving range in Buriram today for second time, no one there, waited for half an hour. Does anyone know if and when it opens. It seems to face into the sun and I wondered if no one used due to the bad design.

From 1 pm (ish) actually heavy on the ish. Closes I guess around dark, maybe they have lights there. I planned to drop the clubs there, take the car for service at toyota, walk back and hit a few and then collect the car. Of course on that day they were late opening so it was sit in Toyota and twiddle my thumbs.

Make it after 2pm to be safe.

I have been there twice, it is supposed to open at 1-00 pm and as Disting says time is TIT time!!! They turned up at about 1-20today. The mats are pretty poor and the sun beats down on your head from every mat. It stays open to 8/9 apparently and a teacher is available from 5/5-30 apparently.

Not sure of another range so you may be stuck with this one, although I did notice at the Surin course some bays so you may be able hit a few balls there.

Chok dee

Was out and about showing my mother the sights of Phanom Rung and Muang Tam. I looked at golf courses on my satnav and it showed one about 4 kms from Phanom Rung. Had a quick trip down there and found a driving range with cows in it and what looked like a course but with nobody there. Had green greens etc. Odd place. Anybody got any experience there.
