Pump Pressure Switch

Recommended Posts

I have a 3 storey shop house with the following system:

Pipes run from the street outlet to a 2000 litre tank (ground level) then from the tank to a 350 watt mistu pump (ground level) THEN into the shop house plumming to 3 bathrooms and one kitchen.

The pump is needed to boost the water pressure so it can get to the upper floors.

I am trying to find a PRESSURE SENSING DEMAND switch so the pump only kicks in when i open a tap. At the moment i have to turn on the pump when i want to have water and as the switch for this is on the ground floor it can get VERY boring!

Any ideas / advice

TIA

PRESSURE SENSING DEMAND

pressure switches are available in most stores selling electrical items. are you familiar how to install one? you need a check valve too.

Naam knows what he is talking about. Also, the switches are usually available with different pressure ranges (but are still adjustable for fine tuning) to where the switch will close and turn the pump on when the water pressure gets below a certain point and open again to turn the pump off when the pressure gets up to a certain point.

Be sure to turn off the power to the pump when wiring the switch and not by just turning off your switch. Turn the power off at the breaker to keep from getting more experiance faster than you really need! :o

Maybe your pump has a small air tank instead with internal bladder? About 3/4 the size of a 2 L. Pepsi bottle. The tank should have a small valve on top, like any found on tires. Try adding a few pounds of air. If that doesn't work, shut of water supply, unscrew that small tank and see if rusty metal flakes leak out from the bottom, if so, small tank needs to be replaced.

Not always easy to pump air in it with a manual pump, then removing it from the nipple and keeping any air inside..., try the gas station's and use low psi setting.

based on what the OP wrote all he has is a simple booster pump without air tank and without pressure switch. easiest way to solve his problem is buying a packaged unit (available in Tesco and HomePro) for 3,500 to 6,000 Baht (depending on capacity).
