Montage Or Collage Software

Featured Replies

Hi All

I’m looking for some collage or montage software. I’m not very geeky so looking for something easy to use.

Basically I would like to drag and drop photos or parts of photos and make a montage that would then enable me to shuffle the dropped photos around partially on top or under each other to make a nice montage picture.

Any such free or nearly free software available?

Thank y’all

Picasa will make a collage for you. However, I don't think you will be able to "manually" manipulate the photos in the collage. Picasa does everything for you.

Another free application is Foto-Mosaik. Create mosaic-pictures, which are composed of many small pictures (tiles), from your own photos. The individual tiles, from which the mosaic-picture will be created, can be selected at random. After analysis, Foto-Mosaik puts them into one or multiple databases. As a basis you can grab the pictures from your private collection, or from a photo-cd. Again, with Foto-Mosaik, you will no be able to "manually" manipulate the photos in the mosaic.

Thanks “Rice King” I did have Picasa at one time but removed it as I use ACDsee and have got used to that. At the time I was not looking for any montage program so never tried Picasa with that. Maybe I’ll have another look.

Foto-Mosaik I believe makes a picture from lots of little pictures that from a distance looks like a normal picture but close up you can see it’s made up of all these little ones.

That is not really what I’m after. Imagine having a blank page of a scrap book and getting all sorts of pictures or scraps of pictures and sticking them on the page to make an interesting picture of lots of different pictures.

Picasa will do what you want, you just have little or no control (I believe) on positioning the photos. I just mentioned the Foto-Mosaik in passing.

Maybe this could do what you need. Windows Photo Gallery comes with Microsoft's Windows Vista. If you don't use Vista, you can download Windows Live Photo Gallery for free from Microsoft's Windows Live site.
