How To Separate Video And Audio In An Avi Clip.

Featured Replies

I want to separate the video and audio on an AVI clip that I have.

It is a radio programme recorded off satellite to a DV recorder.

I only want to keep the audio and loose the video.

I know I could re-record the audio, but I am looking for a more elegant solution.

How can I do it??

Thanks

Hi Astral,

I use a program called Audacity, it's freeware. I just open the movie and it automatically seperates the audio, then you can crop it. Great for making unique ringtones too.

Good luck.

I would use VirtualDub 1.6.12

very powerful, a little on learning curve to use it but wonderful program. does everything imaginable. Its listed on this list below of utilities and there are other options to VirtualDub.

Audio/Video Utilities.

Go to DOWNLOADS. Look for AVI editing tools.

I could not have said better, Audacity and VirtualDub will do the job.

Even more funny to see that these 2 software are under "GNU General Public License", they rocks.

Another example of a free encoding software (not GPL though) Super C That can do more than you will expect for free.
