We joined a Pattaya Police patrol Unit as they responded to a call at the South end of Pattaya Beach on Sunday Night. They were called by members of the public who witnessed an attack and theft from a Swedish Tourist. The 51 year old man was clearly shaken but was able to explain to Police that he was sitting on the side of the promenade under some Deckchairs when he felt something smash on his head. He lost his balance and fell to the ground sustaining minor facial injuries. During the moments after the apparent attack, a Thai Man stole a mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of cash. Despite a busy Beach Road, the assailant was not able to be caught. The victim was taken to Pattaya Police Station to make a report of the incident and Police are now checking CCTV pictures in an attempt to catch the man who conducted the attack and recover the stolen items.

People who are only on a brief visit here are not aware of how dangerous

the walkway on the beach is. Often the overhead street lights are not working

and there are way, way too many undesireables loitering down there trying

to sell drugs or looking for a tourist to mug. Well, what about the tourist police

volunteers? They appear to be too busy playing games with the service girls.

I almost wish they would allow people to sell stuff on the beach promenade. That way there would be much more people and more light. Today its a dump! Its a place for drug dealers, thugs and hardcore hookers.
