Wow in Pattaya they were everywhere. I am around sukumvit and soi 10 in Bangkok now, anyone know where I can rent a motorbike? Any tips on what to expect / avoid?

You wont see rental shops as in Pattaya, afterall, how many tourists would want to rent a bike in Bangkok? What's the benefit? Unless you know the roads it will almost certainly take you longer to get around than on public transport. You will also find that the police in BKK are far more interested in you than their Pattaya counterparts.

You could always try a repair shop - they may be prepared to rent out an old bike.
