Application Failed To Initialize Properly (0xc0000034)

When I turned on the computer this morning I found my e-mail programme, Eudora, gave me "application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000034)"

I tried re-installing but still the same message.

I have spent about 2 hours googling (a new verb in the English language? ) this afternoon

and found that the file gdiplus was not in the right place.

After copying it to the required location, all is well. Quite a relief.

In the process I dug up 3 useful little MS utilities:

Procmon

Filemon

Regmon

These will log all the OS activity for Processes, Files and Registry.

It was Filemon that allowed me to see where Eudora was having problems.

Still no idea why the problem occurred in the first place.
