January 6, 200818 yr If you are simply sore from a hard workout earlier in the day or on the previous day, what should be used to sooth the muscles, a hot bath or a tub of ice? I'm not injured. Just sore. I always get confused on this one. Thanks.
January 6, 200818 yr ice on injury. warm compress/shower/bath to relax muscles and speed up blood circulation/removal of acid and the other methabolic waste. you can also try thai herbal balm or warming creams from the pharmacy
January 7, 200818 yr If you ask the Thai guys what they put on after football for aching muscles, forgot the name, it's a lovely balm/oil in a bottle and that helps as does a warm/hot bath
January 7, 200818 yr I'm reminded of the joke...a guy goes to the doctor with a sprained ankle, and asks what he should do. The doctor replies, "Put ice on it." The guy goes back to work, complaining about his sore ankle. The cleaning lady tells him, "Put a hot compress on it." The guy is furious, and goes back to the doctor. "My cleaning lady told me to use a hot compress." The doctor replies, "My cleaning lady tells me to use an ice pack."
January 9, 200818 yr Massage might help if you have access to it. I agree. Deep tissue massage , followed by a hot bath. Cheers
January 13, 200818 yr My sister is a sports pysiotherapist - she says alternate betwen hot and cold. the advice from the (not cleaning) lady might have something in it - the idea is to bring more blood flow to the area. Hot and cold compresses done one after another would stimulate the area. thai massage balm does the job - first it feels cold and later, when absorbed by the skin, hot
January 13, 200818 yr sore muscles the next day after workout? you should keep moving and do a less strenuous workout as that will get the blood flowing to help remove the residual acid built up from the earlier workout. oh and i agree with the hot bath part too! TheWalkingMan
