Any Websites With Spoken Thai Numbers +basic Words

Featured Replies

Is there a website that has Thai basic words and numbers?

Something that I can listen to over and over ?

I am very bad at languages , just know very basic German after 50 trips there !

But Thailand is much harder to find English speakers so I better at least learn numbers and basic words

thanks for your advise

The counting system in Thai is luckily very easy and quite logical, unlike in some European languages.

The basic pattern is

Separate words for 1 - 10

11 - 19 are ten-one(but this "one" /èd/ differs from "one" "nèung" in isolation), then ten-two, ten-three - ten-nine. (no exceptions)

20 is a separate word.

30 - 90 are three-ten, four-ten - nine-ten

You need Macromedia Flash Player installed - but then you can click on the Blue Thai words to get their pronunciation.

Mind the TONES. My advice is for you to mimic the voice on the site exactly - everything, not only the sounds, but also the PITCH of the words - how high or low they are, and how they fall.

And by the way DO NOT look too closely at how they try to represent the words with Latin letters. You are bound to miss some important distinctions if that is what you memorize. Just listen to the sounds and repeat them!

Cheers,

A very good dictionary with hundreds of thousands sounds (!!!!) is
