Fiancee and spouse visas are not hard to do without the use of a migration agent...depending on your situation.

I dont have any knowledge on good or bad ones....if you really want to go that way...maybe another member can help out.

What you are looking for is a Licenced Migration Agent and they are registered with MARA in Australia.

As far as is known there are none in Thailand. You are better off doing the application yourself and employ the services of a translation agency as required. It is not difficult and TV has a lot of infomation to assist you.

Try speaking with embassay staff, they may be able to guide to a reputiable agent; or the staff at the visa office. May not get any direction but worth a try. I would just ask what agent can be used for the application and where may they be found. I found the visa office a lot more laid back, but the girls at the embassay are a tough lot.

Graham and David are right, but then again your partner may not be equiped to do the forms on her own?

Good luck

Hi,

thanks for all the replies.... I contacted BangkokVisa (http://www.bangkokvisaservice.com/index.htm) yesterday. Will cost approx 40000Baht.

Not sure what to do... I know i'll be fine filling in all the documents but i think my partner might need a little help.

There are a number of ways you can do it.....

You can help fill out the form for her, if you are there with her...

You can complete the form as much as you can and send it to her to complete...if you are here...

She can get assistance from a translator to fill out the form...anyone who can read and write English, doesnt need to be a licenced translator...as long as she can understand it.

Or she can use a licenced translator....Could be expensive though.

If the application is missing a few answers, the staff at VFS will assist....they wont do the application for her though.

An overseas Migration agent does not have to be registered with MARA (Page 43 of the Partner Migration Booklet) they do however need to be in compliance with the laws in their own country...... It would be preferred if they have been allocated an Overseas Agent ID number but it is not necessary.

With my wife, we did the form while she was here....By the time she went to lodge it the forms had changed...she just copied from the first one to the new one...I printed out the new sponsor form, filled it in and sent it to her. Try to ensure that the forms you are using is the latest ones...Check the design date (bottom right hand side) on your forms to the ones on the website.

Finally.....from the VFS site....if she needs any assistance

Note: Staff from the Visa and Immigration Office of The Australian Embassy, Bangkok will be available to address queries and meet with applicants wishing to lodge Migration Visa Application at the Australian Visa Application Centre (VFS). Any applicant wishing to personally speak with an Immigration Officer about their migration visa application may do so by visiting the Application Centre between 2 PM and 4 PM each working Tuesday and Thursday of the week.

You should only use a Registered Migration Agent. Would you go to a non registered doctor for medical advice nor surgery?  Registered Migration Agents are regulated by the Australian Government and must continually update their skills and knowledge. they are subject to regulation and the code of conducted  Non Registered operators can not assist when things go wrong.  They are also limited in communicating with the Department and do not have access to Policy (Legend) Sure you can use a non registered "agent" but why would you want to risk it.
