In don't know about the Nintendo Wii, but I recently bought a laptop. It's an ACER TravelMate 4720 and I am very happy with it.

My choice fell on ACER because I have already a desktop and I have been in need of support from Acer. I sent them an E-Mail, which was promptly answered (24h) and right to the point. I then had a question about this laptop and again contacted their support here in Bangkok, and again, it got immediately an answer and again right to the point.

I believe a computer is as good as the after sale and I have had excellent experience with Acer.

Contrary to Canon, by the way.

I spent THB 33'000 with original Windows Vista and many other programs pre-installed. They are all in English, so no problem there.

My advice, buy a laptop in the UK and Wii when you get here.

When I first came to Thailand 7 years ago, I took the risk and bought my laptop in the UK. I was delighted when I got here as I checked the prices here, and good brand name products like Sony etc... cost a fortune here (I bought a Sony Viao - back in the day) and the prices in UK were significantly cheaper even factoring in exchange rates. You can buy cheap laptops with good specs here, but my advice would be buy quality in the UK. You may want to consider your warranty factor, check it comes with global warranty, if you buy a brand name in UK you should be able to get it serviced here in Thailand under that warranty.

I recently bought a Wii here - 2 weeks ago in fact. It's a US version, modded, with extra controller and 10 games for 18,800 baht. I could have probably got it a little bit cheaper, I only went to 3 stalls in MBK to get reference costing. I was feeling lazy and just went ahead and bought it. Not sure what the costs are in the UK, but I think bringing UK pounds into Thailand would make it a significant saving due to sterling strength.

Hope that helps.
