A good hearted Taxi driver, Prayad Nopparat, handed over a wallet he found on a road in front of Jungceylon shopping complex in Patong on Sunday evening to Kathu Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Krissak Songmoonnark to pass on to the owner. 5,000 Baht cash was in the wallet with three credit cards. Police inspection indicates that the wallet belonged to a British national Dr. Ernest Alexander, age 42. Prayad told police that the taxi drivers in Patong often find lost wallets or valuables belonging to visitors and and they managed to return them to owners. This time he said he does not know where the owner stays so they reported to police to search for the owner as he understands that credit cards and papers are important for travelers.

That this is even a news story says reams.

Sorry - I disagree. As a former journalist, it's nice to get a balance with a few 'feel good' stories. They seem to be few and far between in Thailand.

I reckon we get too much negative news.

Great for some honest happening to be reported.

Most would think taxi drivers would snaffle the cash and possibly hand wallet in anon.

Good for you, taxi driver, Prayad Nopparat.

That's the point that OC was making... perhaps you missed it. :o

I totally agree with OC, as I more or less said in my post.

The tourist, who lost his wallet which a taxi driver in Patong found, collected it from police and thanked the driver.

We are glad to report in a follow up to our story on Tuesday that the rightful owner of a lost wallet turned up to police after it was found by a good hearted taxi driver, Prayad Nopparat. .... It belonged to Dr. Ernest Alexander, age 42 a British national, who passed on his thanks to the honest taxi driver (who apparently refused to accept any reward).
