Airport To Chiang Mai

Hey guys,

Im arriving into Bangkok from OZ on the 29th of this month at around 8pm local time. I wish to get straight up to Chiang Mai but the last flight leaves at the same time as i arrive! I was thinking about waiting around in the airport till the 6:45am flight the next morning for about 1500 baht.

Is this the best option or should i go into town and get a train or bus or something?

Just thought i would post this and see if anyone ever found themselves in the same predicament, and could give some advice!

Cheers!

Ed

You are not alone. Most who come in from Aus or for that matter many other countries are faced with an overnight in BKK.

Check the last flight out of Don Muang Airport, that airport has many more budget airlines that may be leaving late enough for you to take a taxi over there and make the connection.

A 10pm flight might do the trick, the last time I heard of one it was about 10:30 pm. but don't know the latest scheduling.

I travel in same circumstances often.

Air Asia flies 0645 hrs from BKK. 599.00 THB + taxes = Total fare 1,389.93 THB

Stay overnite, this my Nite at Swampypool.

Once outta airside, buy an English paper, Bangkok Times or Nation.

Next think food ? Shops on the concourses are rip-off.

Get the lift furthest left after exiting airside.

Get out at ground floor, gate 8, ask summun in lift, if in doubt.

Turn left and you will find "The Magic Food Point"

Basically a staff cafe, but sooooo cheap, such variety and open to all.

Buy coupons at desk just inside to the left.

Grab a feed, read papers, do X-words woteva to fill in a bit of time.

Leave cafe, go up one level where you will find some soft seating, grab 3 attached seats, curl up and kip.

There will be others there, don't be bashful, nobody knows you, well not likely.......LOL

Have a pullover/jacket handy, could be cool.

Hopefully you will not be loaded with baggage, if using Air Asia, max 15 kilos

You will need to be up and about again about 0400hrs.

Have a kwik snack if you wish.

Proceed to top, departure level and check in.

Go thru' security check, and yet onya way.

Hope you like a long morning walk.......LOL

Print this off, if it appeals.

Good Luck. Kia Ora
