mcgriffith
Nan is an almost Switzerland-like area, with some mountain vistas that I thought as strikingly beautiful as any I've seen elsewhere in the world (including the Himalayas, Andes. Alps, etc.). Having said that, I can't comment on the spa/hotel scene out there. I used Nan as a base for 2 days of loop trips on a motorcycle touring trip, then moved north to the Chiang Khong, Chiang Saen area. I particularly want to point out the Doi Phukha National Park just to the east of Pua- highly recommended. I stayed at a rather soulless, but still quite adequate modern hotel in the city centre of Nan. I'm sure some of the spas outside of town would more than fulfill your requirements. sceadugenga
I'm going up there for two days on family business in the next couple of weeks, I'll take the camera and do a report when I come back.
