Moderation?

What does it mean exactly?

Moderation is about what you think will make the forum better.

Whatevever the posters think, moderators do what they think is good for the forum.

At the end, it is their forum, they moderate it to make it better, to get more people, to get more money.

They can be wrong, you can be right, but at the end they are the ones paying for it, not the posters.

So, who are we to judge?

You know my stand on this one blue.

No community feeling -> no posters -> no advertising -> no money. only cost is left :o

I assumed the Admins and Mods were paid, volunteers, good grief, how many hours a day do they spend on this forum.  Definetly puts them in a different light.

In most cases, far too many for their health and their families, however, that having been said, the nature of this place appears to warrant a referree at times. It's extra cool when they are insightful as well as even handed.

Times have been I have thought a dictionary at the side of a mod job would do well when they get over stressed about big words.

Good job but you guys.

How about a spelling-checker? :D

Picky Bitch -_-

Oooh! Love it when you talk dirty! :D:o:D:D

But seriously, I use "Firefox" web browser and you can get a spelling-checker "extension", for it. I use it all the time.

Its is very well possible that the mod-team collectively is confronted with the famous 'Peters principle'.

Things went probably a little bit over-sized and thereby out of hand.

My compliments for Collina though, he could even be the real one, who I hold in high regards. He is intelligent, has a good feeling for humor and is to the point.

When I saw that he was overruled by another moderator (Wolfie) with a blunt one-liner I felt sorry not only for him but for thaivisa as a whole.

It is not easy and that's what the owners of thaivisa start to realise.

You start with a forum about Thailand and you end up with a medium for fundamentalist right-wing americans.

And no courage, or not the insight, to move their 'contributions' linea recta to the bearpit.

Not a bad word about the good and qualified moderators, but some are really helpless. From now on I shall stop contributing untill I see at least the beginning of some changes.

PS. I wrote this in the thread about the forced disappearance of Chonabot. But it belongs here. Expelling people out of a group without giving any reason to the remaining members of that group, is not only unpolite but shows a completely lack of understanding of the social mechanisms in a forum like this.

It is rude to the person it concerns and an insult to the remaining members.

Thaivisa should, as a collective, threw out the imcompetent moderators.

A very good wonderment GS..... :D

If I wasn't busy and had more time to contribute on TV I think I would honestly be disappointed that I haven't been offered any honorable mod or admin or even VIP access......:o

<------- I think my seniority should have some leverage???? :D Could t be, could it be, another act of conspiracy targeted at the inferior thai lady???? :D

Could it be, could it be, could it be.................SATAN!!!!! (From an old Saturday Nite Live skit that Dana Carvey did) :D

hi'

what an old topic this is :D

mods are doing what is the best to keep this forum going smooth, (IMHO).

I'm on this board since ... a little time... and I have seen many coming and going or being banned, for some obvious reasons, if you did not get the why, may be you wouldn't understand why some are mods and others not ...

I do know that there are some moderate persons and some hot posters ... :o

I do think that being a mod is not as easy as some may think ...

as far as I'm concerned, moderate on most subjects, is a question of how you express yourself, and also the way you use some words ...

I have seen insulting posters and it was not the best of the board ...

I have seen moderate post without any interest for most of posters ...

like in the real world, some are quiet and some are hotblood ...

just express yourself, but don't complain if some are banned.

about chonabot ... nothing to say, he decided to go by himself, and so what?

I'm far from you all now, but I still enjoy to be with you through this board, a kinda realtime contact with LOS ... it helps, not to feel so away :D

cheers to all mods and admin

You can't please everyone... I wish Tony Blair would understand this.

True.

The Mods like to keep a close eye on Chonabot....

But where has Chon gone?

He's gone to mammary heaven.
