Grass

Can anybody tell me where I can find grass seed in Phuket. I only want to fill in a few bare spots, but was told I had to order a truck load from BKK, or put down that pre-grown turf. Neither of which I want

I had the same question a few years ago when i built a house up in Issan.

I was told that it is too hot here for grass seed and you have to buy turf (already grown squares)

Don't know if they were being truthful but I've never seen grass seed in this country.

But, i bet a greenskeeper at a golf course would know for sure.

I've lived in thailand for close on 10 years and never seen grass seed anywhere until the other day.

I live 8 kilometres out of Pattaya and recently called into a local garden centre asking if they sold turf as i had a bare patch i wanted to repair and low and behold she took off the shelf a cannister of American grass seed containg 1lb of seed and priced at 485 baht.

She had no turf available and only sold it to order.

I questioned would it grow in Thailand as the climate is different here than it is in America and she assured me she has been in the business for 20 years and it does germinate.

Now that's a first.

Do i believe the seed will germinate..................Hmmmm?
