March 8, 200818 yr I am moving to Thailand in July and looking for a franchise opportunity in Bangkok. From what I hear 7-11 is not a very good investment. Does anyone know of a franchise that is worth investing?
March 9, 200818 yr There are a large number of franchise opportunities available, however, you have to be here to take advantage of them. One other aspect you need to be aware of is a number of these organisations make no effort to adapt to foreign investors, to the point of not dealing with foreigners, so you will need a local person to be your representative in all dealings with these companies. There is a franchise fair at the Queen Sirikit convention centre about twice a year to get an overall idea of what is available, again have your rep with you as you will need someone to get the attention of the sales folk, many get very shy at the sight of a foreigner. 7-eleven is a good organisation if you fit their mould you can create a viable business if you can live with the lack of a no competition clause in your franchise agreement, Family Mart likewise do not include what is a standard clause in other countries in their agreement. An experienced franchise operator is Greg Lange of Sunbelt Asia, apart from being a forum sponsor he has interests in a number of franchises including Subway, Chesters and several others I cannot remember just now. Mostly in the food industry, he has also opened a new chain of Mexican Restaurants (Sunrise Tacos) not sure if he is franchising them or keeping them for himself. If you can get to speak to him, he is very knowledgeable, some of his staff are not as knowledgeable in this area. Good luck CP
March 9, 200818 yr Author Thank you, CP. I will look into the fair and look up Greg at Sunbelt when I cvome to Bangkok.
