English lessons avaliable---to native speakers

Featured Replies

Just an observation, IMo it seems the standard of spelling and use of grammar on this board amongst certain individuals is very poor. I am offerering free spelling/grammar lessons to native English speakers only, in an effort to rectify this.....

No names being mentioned :o

It seems the posters who have English as a second/third language are doing fine.

Or we could ask the administrators to install a spell checker here?

I blame the Uk/US education system..

j/k chaps! :D

Hi Chonabot,

I agree with you.

But how are you giving the lessons?

I am concerned that the Readers who

have English as a second/third language

will think that the Postings by English Speakers

are correct whereas they contain many errors

(I do not mean mistakes/Typing errors) I mean

wrong usage that the writers obviously think is correct.

I put up a little tutorial on the usage of

their/there/they're at:

http://forum.thaivisa.com/cgi-bin....;t=1673

for the benefit of Readers who have English as a

second/third language and it was immediately

criticised by the English Readers whereas it was

not addressed to them.

The Subject was "Studying english?"

So I don't know why they read it !!

Anyway the Admin have Locked that Thread.

Sorry for any misunderstanding Roger , this thread was intended as a light hearted dig, nothing else :o

Chonabot,

Yes - and my

"But how are you giving the lessons?"

was also Tongue in Cheek.

But who is your Light Hearted Dig aimed at?

I am quite sure that the Targets are Blissfully Unaware !

Roger

Hi  I must admit my spelling is not as good as it should be but that is what a secretary is for, at least thats what i used mine for.

If the only thing that was importent was the spelling and grammer then i would have not had a usefull job for 30+ years.

Edd , nice slant on the humour, but what would I do with 2 lives?

Btw how could you have a Bsc in English?, when it's clearly in the arts related fields?

Hi Chonabot!

Why did you write "...Native English speakers..." ?

I think native should be written in lowercase, if not - why?

How do you know? - have you told your wife that you have experience of bar girls?
  • Author
Umm, how do you define bar girl? Could it be a lady I met in a cinema?
  • Author
Was that the one who kept saying "Oh Brian!" all bleedin night?
I know that one and she is not good.

Speaking of wives, mine's just threatened to put the PC screen where the sun doesn't shine, ( its 19"!) if I don't give  her some attention...back in 30 mins :o

mines just threatened to put the Pc

shouldn't that read: "mine's just threatened to put the PC", i.e. pos. s and cap "C"?

Ugh , sorry Edd, my fault again :o

Can you fix my brother up with your secretary though? B)

  Dear Chonbot you must realy hate your brother, talk about sibling rivalry.

If your brother is so desperate that he would think of dating as i called her ''The lady of Challot'' well more like a pickled onion, why dont you bring him to THE LAND OF SMILES.

Love life, love differences, love sun shine.
