Reasonably Priced Accommodations Koh Phi-phi

Featured Replies

After Songkran I need to start doing some business out at Koh Phi-Phi.

It's kind of funny, although I have been here awhile I have yet to make it out there (tourist trap).

Are there reasonably priced hotels or are they all pang?

I don't need fancy, a bed, shower, ceiling fan and I'm o.k.

Any suggestions anybody?

Thanks, HB

Tourist trap? In what way? I really like it there.

O.K., didn't mean to offend, possible if you spend time out there to recommend a budget hotel?

Thanks, HB

No offense taken at all, just surprised because I thought it was really nice.. I only spent a few hours though and not spent the night.

Not easy to explain, but we usually stay at a Mom & Pop type place that has about 6 small bungalows. If you get off the boat, head to your right (East), go about 500 metres (up and over the small hill where there's a big bar and then you get to a very hard left, and go about another 50 metres. Take the soi to your left, walk back there about 100 metres and there's a few cheap places. We usually go low season and don't remember the prices but i believe it was around 300-400 baht a night???? No frills, just fairly centrally located and cheap!

I recommend the 1/2 day (at least) to Phi Phi Ley. Very nice!

Well, you are going at the perfect time. After Song Kran is when the good people of PP Island start dropping their (outrageous) accomodation prices. Back near the old reservoir there are some small clean fan rooms (PP Dream guesthouse and that area). One nice spot most people don't make it to is the westernmost point along Ton Sai Bay (head left off the pier). The name escapes me, but it is the last (or second last) grouping of bungalos along the beach. They have fan as well as air con rooms. They are generally cheaper (due to the distance to the main part of town) and certainly quieter. You also benift from the beast spot to swim on either of the main beaches. So if you don't mind walking (5 minutes tops) to get into 'town' your entire PP experience will probably be better by staying there.

Good luck,

JL
