Restricted, Low Powered Flash

My friend Travis.

I used two Nikon flashes, set to low power with a cardboard snoot.

Hi PTG

I can see what you're trying to achieve, but I think you've slightly missed it here.

To me the whole image seem to lack impact. It needs more "punch" to bring it to life.

I've always (rightly or wrongly) considered that male portraiture should have a "hard" masculine type of feel to it. to me this image is a little soft.

I also think a little bit more light on the front of the shirt - just to bring it into play a bit more.

And finally, maybe cropped a tad too tight - perhaps a bit more space for the subject to "look into" would be better

Lovely colours but as I've said, a little too soft for my liking.

I am fascinated by the eyes.....So many things expressed in this look ! Love this shot

Grid Snoots are fun and can get allot of different looks.

Here is another sample.

I shot this with small flash both camera right, key light with a shoot through umbrella and a rear flagged to stop lens flare. not sure of setting as i never pay attention to them. click on image for a bigger view.
