The Thai FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the Ministry of Public Health are cautioning people about where they buy and what they eat during the hot season as food spoils quickly.

It is my suggestion that you examine all processed foods in bags and jars to insure that there is an FDA approval number which is included and the supplier name is in Thai and enclosed in back slash type with upper and lower lines. Check all items of processed food before you buy or request a statement from the supplier that the food is FDA approved at the processing point along with the approval number. Also check the expiration date as much of the food on the shelves has exceeded the expiration date.

Regarding fresh food products such as beef, pork and chicken, the Livestock Development Office (LDO) requires written approval of all fresh meat products that are shipped across province borders. Ask your supplier for a copy of his last shipment. Rember, if you create a problem for youself then it is most likely that your business will be closed. Unrealiable suppliers will sell you anything cheap just to get you to buy it. Note that there are no government approved slaughter houses in Thailand except for one in Chumporn that has never operated.

Please pass this along to your friends who may be in the food business.

You would think that getting food from a well known fast food establishment like Burkering would be your best bet.

Please think again. I got food poisoning from the one in Jungceylon. After spending a about hour in the toilet. :o It suddenly hit me that it was not the burger but the tomato sauce.

Even with all the rules and regulations employers follow there is still some idiot that does not clean out the tomato sauce dispenser everyday., I bet they just top it up when it is running low ,and leave it out overnight too.

Thai fast food for me now. It's cheaper too. :D

Been here a year and had the Delhi belly once and that was Chilli con Carne from Don's! Before I upset one of the sponsors of the site I have to say I have eat there many times and the food has always been fabulous.

It was a one off which is ok. I have eat in some of the UK's best restaurants and gone home feeling not on top form the next day,

Eating Vegetarian and avoiding anything from the slaugther house or Deli always helps minimize the chances of eating bad meat and getting ill.
