libya 115
SOURCE: Pattaya Daily News: March 31st 2008 CLOTHES LINE ARGUMENT ESCALATES INTO STABBING INCIDENT OUTSIDE JOMTIEN BEER BAR Two neighbouring Jomtien beer bar owners, one German and the other French, had a disagreement on March 30, 2008, about territorial rights and an offending clothes line, which had strayed over into the adjacent beer bar. The disagreement was originally between the German and the Frenchman‘s wife, but when the argument became heated, the German began to attack the lady. At which point, the Frenchman, hearing the fracas, emerged from the kitchen to aid his wife. He was, however, armed with a knife with which he stabbed the German repeatedly, who sustained severe injuries. The incident was reported to Pattaya Pol.Lt.Col. Ekadit Srimul, from Dongtan station, who sent a police investigation team supported by Sawang Boriboon Rescue to the Party Saloon and Pub, located at 144/32 Jomtien Soi 4. Arriving at the scene, a five storey shop house with a beer bar on the ground floor, police found a number of panicking bar girls milling about, who immediately asked the police to render assistance to their boss, the injured beer bar owner. The severely injured man was Mr. Fred Frank Hansen, (43), a German citizen. He had sustained five stab wounds: two to his stomach, one to the left side of his waist, one to his body and another to his left ear and was bleeding profusely. He was subsequently rushed to Banglamung Hospital. Miss Nid, a staff member of The Party Salon and Pub, told police that Mr. Hansen's assailant was the owner of the next door Canary Bay Beer Bar. Police duly went to Canary Bay Beer Bar and found Mr. Jean-Marie Philbert, (43), a French national, having a meal in the kitchen. As soon as Mr. Philbert saw the police, he confessed to stabbing Mr. Hansen and surrendered himself, along with a one-foot long kitchen knife as evidence. Mr. Philbert's wife, Mrs. Pornphan Philbert (34), told police that she had gone for a walk in front of the Canary Bay Beer Bar, carrying her two-year-old son, whilst Mr. Philbert was preparing a meal in the kitchen. Seeing a laden clothes line belonging to the neighbouring Party Saloon and Pub, straying over into her territory, she told one of the Canary Bay bar girls to remove it. By so doing, however, she antagonised Mr. Hansen, the German bar owner, who emerged and began an argument, which became heated and rapidly escalated into an attempted attack on her. With her son in her arms, she attempted to protect herself, simultaneously crying to her husband for help. As soon as Mr. Philbert heard the raised voices outside and saw Mr.Hansen attacking his wife, he rushed from the kitchen, armed with a knife. He intervened in the attack, stabbed Mr. Hansen five times then ran back into the bar, with bar girls having witnessed the whole incident. Neither Mr. Philbert nor his wife attempted to escape, but waited to surrender themselves to the police. Mr. Philbert was duly taken into custody and will be charged with causing bodily injury with a knife.

misterman21
Laundry - washed, ironed, folded and bagged only 500 baht for 80 pieces (many, many places in Jomtien). No need for washing lines and potential lethal disputes with foreigners

libya 115
SOURCE: Pattaya City News: March 31st 2008 World War III Kicks off in Jomtien over Clothes Line. Late on Sunday afternoon police from Dongtan sub-station in Jomtien as well as Sawang Boriboon Rescue volunteers were called to a beer bar in Soi 4 off Jomtien Beach Road where they attended to a 43-year-old German national, Mr Fred Hansen, who had been stabbed five times by a 43-year-old Frenchman named Jean-Marie Philbert. The two foreign nationals own adjoining beer bars in Soi 4 and the reason for the alleged attack was a clothes line which had supposedly strayed from the German-run bar into the territory of the French-owned premises. The 34-year-old wife of the Frenchman was walking past the German bar with her two-year-old son in her arms when she noticed the offending clothes line and asked the girls working in the German bar to bring it back into their own territory. This request apparently antagonised the German bar owner who, his territorial ambitions being circumvented, began a heated argument with the Frenchman’s wife. The German then allegedly began assaulting the lady who was unable to defend herself with her son in her arms. She called out to her husband for help and when Mr Philbert saw what was happening he sallied forth armed with a 30 centimetre-long kitchen knife and launched a counter-attack. After rendering Mr Hansen incapable of further violence Mr Philbert returned to his bar and was having a meal when police arrived. The German was taken for treatment at Banglamung Hospital while the Frenchman was taken into custody and charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
