I wonder if anyone could tell me what the laws are in thailand regarding the ownership and use of paintball guns? If they are legal to possess, I was wondering where could I buy one...

Paintball guns go under the same limitations as airsoft guns afaik, so they are fully legal to own and operate on private land.

Interesting that it was so many here that was playing. Might be time to set up either an english section or one of the bigger thai airsoft sites or a small website (forum and info) for expats in .th (or SEA).

I would suggest you check with WGC or any of the other Hong Kong dealers. And your customs agency if it's legal or not. (Or if the item have to he dis-assembled into two or more separate boxes to avoid detection...)

The best shop for airsoft guns I've found is definitely the one in Seacon Square. If you go to the cinema and then directly underneath is the shop - there are actually two. Thailand's quite an interesting place for airsoft; you can order Japanese 'Marui' brand guns through these Seacon shops (so there must be a main supplier in bangkok) but you can also buy chinese clones (A&K, Boyi, JongGong) which are cheaper and shoddy but also more powerful due to the Japanese companies adherance to strict laws stipulating muzzle energy (of the 6mm plastic BBs) not exceeding 1 joule.

The best airsoft magazine I've found is a Thai print 'China Guns' which reviews Marui and Chinese clones. Quite helpful for staying up to date with the latest models.

The tempatation is to buy the Chinese replicas (with realistic metal parts which Japs are banned from manufacturing) but sub-par manufacturing quality leads to poor range and accuracy. A clone M4 S-system AEG will go for around 7000baht and seem like a bargin until closer inspection reveals the metal to be tin-pot and the motor to last for only 30000 rounds.

I've never looked back since buying a Marui Gas Blow-back Sig for 8000 baht from the Seacon shop as Thailand has the perfect climate for gas (no cold weather to sap power). Before, I'd only tested the Marui springers - the GBBs are so much heavier, louder, and more powerful, I now prefer any GBB to my beloved Marui MP5 AEG even. On that note, the shop isn't great for after-market service. IMHO, all Jap GBBs need a metal top slide as the slide-catch eats in the plastic after a thousand rounds or so. There's no where I've found to cater for this.

There are many ranges/games areas in and around Bangkok - the one closest to Seacon in on Srinakarin road, due south just past Lotus Tesco.

I'd reccomend the Seacon shop for apparel also.

I lived right around the corner from where you are talking about (and where the sister in law lives)....but I didn't know about that range. When I'm back in BKK, I'd be interested in going there. Could you give me an idea of where it's at? Like in relation to the 'clubs' that are there? Is it on the east or west side of the road? Thanks for the information.

There is also a very good "Game Gun Shop" near the temple (Wat Bung Thong Lang) at the right angle bend on Soi Lad Phrao 101. The shop is located to the right of the entrance to a sort of industrial/retailing estate itself found on the left hand side about 100m down the road if carrying on straight at the bend (i.e. heading north). They specialise in TM GBB's and AEG's. Fair prices for both Thai and foreigners. They have a very good stock of TM guns and offer an excellent service.

There is a new indoor airsoft arena at the back of Tawana square by The Mall Bangkapi. Its 200 to play from 2pm to 2am and 250 baht if you come after 6. Its even less if you become a member. Its two months old and I wanted to get the word out there si that it stays going. They have gun rentals there and provide a mask and a wool sweater for protection. The arena is very well designed and there are even sound effects and lasers. I love it. They have beers, decent food and when you finish playing there is a pretty good bar scene around it. Check it out. The guy that runs it is named Mod and here is the number: Tawana Indoor BB 08 9767 0880. Worth checking out.

Go park your car at hua lomphong station and tell a taxi driver to take you to Klong Thom. All shops around Bangkok get their stock from there. Navy Blue in Seacon is owned by a shop owner in Klong Thom.

The Amorn Hobby Group has a shop in Future Park but they mostly sell outrageously-expensive modifications.

NEVER buy a gun in klong thom , unless you don't care about warranty, buy at Navy blue or better at the proshop of your favorite field ... and get your ass covered in case of a defective gun .....

FYI chinese guns are quite good if you take a brand that is a little bit known such as DBoy or AGM and they are a quarter of the price of a Tokyo Marui ...... for your first gun go for an M4 as there are ton and tons of accessories available and ingame you can share clips and batteries with other players if you run short .... you can get a starter equipment complete with upgraded gear for less than 10 000 baht ( including carying bag , protective gear etc ).... one thing tho , always go for full metal body and parts NO PLASTIC BODY, it will cost like 4-500 baht more but its a necessary spending .... spending 20K on a gun for weekend games is totally unnecessary ..... unless you are in a team and doing competition there is no need to spend more than 8k for an M4 ........ other guns are a totally different story as its a matter of taste and disponibility from the chinese manufacturers

a new shop just opened recently on the Top Level of 'Fashion Island' Shopping Mall

This bloke has a decent range of gear too.

I have had my eye on the replica Thompson (electric) with real woodwork and original size. Don't know what I would do with it though. Put it up on the wall I guess.

I saw signage for a new BB gun shop at SL2, coming into SL2 from Soi 9, (back entrance)

the shop is on the LH side.

There are other dealers at the main market on Sat & Sunday, also the outoftown traders have just tables on the road on Mon & Tuesday.

If you buy anything, make sure you get the vendor's mobile number in case of a fault and insist on an Orange ID plug for the barrel.

A friend bought a beautiful 9mm Glock replica..... not moi! :) I buy plants!

SL2's location is in my sig.

If you want to go to a cheap places China town, If you want to go to a good palce which you can play at aswell and perhaps try paintball i would suggest larb 11 army base in ratcheotin, or combat zone 62 on sukhumvit 62. They are both paintball/bb fields with specialized shops and staff who can repair and maintain them.

They all use 6mm soft pellets. I bought an M4, an AK47 and a M81 pistol plus extras there last week.

On sunday I went to the bb/paintballing centre off Rama 9 for an evenings carnage and all the Thai guys buy their stuff at a place in or very near China town. They tell me the guns are a little cheaper but the accessories (laser, night vision etc) are half the price.

I have not been to China town so I cannot vouch for it but the shop in Seacon was good and gave me a discount as I bought 3 guns.

My new friend at boxer-rebellion is going to open a sort of class where he teaches a thing called CQB ( close quarter battle) with airsoft pistols in an simulated urban type enviroment

it looks real fun and apparently one can learn all sorts of basic skills related to that

he says it is not target shooting,

but the stuff you need to learn if one face's a real threat

gotta admit, thats highly unlikely, but still, thesedays, you never know

some other guy are coming over from the USA to set up the range, or whatever you call it

I was in USA and just did not know what to buy- and the stall I found in patpong costs far too much

I will try that place, and please tell me, is there regular painball events organised

thanks

aay2553 cannot reply, he has been banned (for something unrelated I presume).

I am almost surprised there are as many people here with knowledge of the sport as there is. Having left behind some 10 years of playing when I moved here back then and I didn't know of anyone playing or if it was even legal.

Since then I have seen ads for playing fields and discovered that there does indeed exist here also, even if it is very expensive compared to the local cost of other things. In part due to the hassle with imports.

Would be nice if this thread doesn't get lost, as there is no AS sub-forum...

Does anyone know where I can find a shop which sells BB/Airsoft guns in Bangkok?

Thanks in advance.

Seacon Square, the market area below the cinemas on the top floor.

Look for a shop called "Navy Blue", it's in one of the shops on the outer perimeter, just walk 'round the perimeter and you'll find it.

There is another shop too but I can't recall the name.

You will probably have to order the weapon you want, but they can usually get it within 1 or 2 days - they also have a choice of Japanese or Taiwanese manufactured models.

Patrick

will these items enable me to terminate the pigeons sitting and shitting on my balcony every now and then ? :)

No, airsoft-guns cannot kill a bird.

A 4.5mm or 5.5mm BB (metal) air rifle might be able to hurt it, but that is another thing.

If you are talking about a competition air pistol (like a styer or Padrini, Morini), then it is almost next to impossible. You have to get a permit from your village headman, then the OrBorTor or some organization similar to that, then you have to apply at the district office. Only the almighty being knows when that will be issued if it is ever approved.

Close to Yaowarat there are several gun stores grouped together on the same road & some sell air pellet guns in addition to firearms. These are not soft pellets but lead pellets and are not toys but real target rifles. Selection limited. Can order UK pellet rifles at quite a premium by USA prices.

Does anybody know what kind of permit you need to get to own a .177 firing air gun?

Many thanks,

Tom.

AEG BB gun would be your fastest sold in the markets,

But if you live upcountry you can find homemade BB guns that shoot steel ball bearings and are primed with a tire pump.

That would be the fastest gun I have seen around.

My AEG shoots about 460-480fps and works on all dogs and cat problems I have.

Tom if it is just a cat problem you don't need to shell out alot of money,

you can get either a gas blow back hand gun or an electric rifle

Rifle will be more accurate for you but a higher cost you should have no problem with a China JD brand Electric try a M4 carbine or M4A1 look to pay around 3500-5000

Full auto setting works like magic on Cat's and dogs.

Fun facter 100%

Hand gun blow back look for a meistler Glock 17 it is also China brand but holds up nicley and cheap to fix. 2500-3500

Can of gas large bottle 300

Bag of 6mm BB's 220

Laughs pricless

Airsoft uses a hard plastic 6mm ball and doesn't always use compressed air to fire the projectile.

then how is the bullet propelled if not with a compressed gaseous medium? :)

How much cost a good quality / price AEG plus glasses ? in USD
